Stuck in Apalachicola Again

Hello,
We had made plans some time ago to use an acquaintance's boat over the labor day weekend. Tough economic times must have forced them to sell the boat. Now we have already purchased the plane tickets and have three days or four days with absolutely nothing planned. I don't particularly like oysters. Can anyone recommend places to see and visit and eat in this area. I guess I could stop by Wefings and kick the tires on a few new boats. But I'm not really quite ready to buy yet. Could use a few ideas. Is it worth traveling over to Panama City, Destin, Pensacola?
D.D. Still lurkin ready for test drive. :D

Apalachicola is a great place to be stuck. We stopped for one or two days and stayed over two weeks. Stay at the Water Street Hotel. Sit on your balcony or the dock and enjoy the mornings/evenings. Eat at Tamara's. Eat Blue Bell ice cream. Rent a boat from Marc at Wefings -- even tire kicking is fun with Marc. Go up the river. Anchor on Saul Creek for lunch. Relax. Enjoy the very friendly locals. Check out the nature exhibits down the road from Water Street. Enjoy -- even if you don't care for oysters. Eat the oysters anyway. :)

We'll go back!

Regards to all,

Greg

Dave , I have made some special arrangements for you . Including lots of multiple C Dory time . And another boat to explore on as well . We will take good care of you here . I had a good chat with your wife regarding the situation. Your take was partially correct . I sold the boat as I could get 2 day rental boats in immediate service and they are renting nicely [ the 25 was not] .The second new one will say C Dory on the side . Only it will be a 22 center console. This helps us keep the cash flowing .Which helps us keep the level of customer service that we strive for happening. A much better economic move in slower times . OK I said it ! Ill give you a call and let you know what we can do.

My wife and her cousin Don were great friends with Robb White and family. My wife Anita had him speak at the Apalachicola antique boat show a few years ago before he passed. He was a treasure.
