This is not a for sale ad but a suggestion for this forum to save the moderators and the rest of us some grief. Perhaps we could have a "fill in the form" listing outline that encourages sellers to tell us their asking price, make, model, year, boat location, condition, power in place/hour count, electronics in place, trailer (axle count/brake type/condition,) fresh/salt water use, options installed, number of prior owners, maintenance history, repairs needed at the time of listing, recent major repairs/upgrades, and most of all - a suggested series of pictures including hull, deck, cockpit, house top, engines/stern, trailer, interior from all angles and a happy shot of the seller using the boat! Also good contact information with a real name, phone number, email address, and web link to a picture album if they cannot post pics to C-Brats. This could also just be a sticky at the top of the forum. I bite my tongue every time I see a listing that is not really doing the seller or their boat justice. I have PM'd them and sent them emails but most must are not interested, guess that is why some folks use a broker to sell a C-dory that if properly presented, will likely sell on its own. If you go to Sailing Texas Sailboats Classified at http://www.sailingtexas.com/cboats.html you will see that they only keep boats on the forum for 90 days and then to re-list you must drop your price 5% or more. They also have minimum listing information required and ask for a 1% voluntary "fee" if the boat sells. Just some thoughts, If I never buy a boat, I will still consider myself a C-Brat, this is a great place to spend a few minutes every day. Thanks for all you volunteers do for us out here who are boatless and/or clueless.
