Sunken vessel close to Napoleon

I noticed this today while heading out to my mooring....ouch....a few hours later this vessel was at the dock courtesy of Tow Boats US salvage. It's a 30' vessel with a 10' beam. We had about 36 straight hours of rain this past weekend. The Tow Boat US crew did not know the cause.

Matt,
I'm not sure but, with the influx of immigrants that boat could be a new low rider custom edition that is overtaking the boating world by storm. :xseek Or it could be the boat was overtaken by a storm as you suggest. Sad none the less. I makes you wonder if some of these calimities might be people looking for a away out of their boats due to the ecomomy. I mean Captain Runaground who just sank going into Oak Harbor on the other coast blogged about the whole thing. I'd be so embrassed I don't think I could have blogged about it unless I was just spinning a yarn so to speak for the "we're on your side folks". If you know what I'm saying.

D.D. you may be pushing button's ??? if i lost my boat and almost took the wife with it i would be a little ticked :o

it seems a novice can set a course to Alaska never hit the beach or miss a turn ... most of them plan months ahead lay out course lines, fuel stops and read up on local knowledge, and ask the locals about narrows, prevaling wind conditions, obstacles to beware of ...

everyone once and a while a old salt (figure of speech) who has passed through the same area hundreds of times will end up on the rock pile ... been their so many times no course lines, cutting corners, no estimate of distance run, time to turn ... push the weather window couple minor cliches in the system and like "hello" the whole damn day go's south big time .. . wc[/i][/b]

wailedcentipede,
I wasn't pushing buttons. It was an opinion based on what I read. It seemed like the incident was caused by more than a few modest over sights that would have caused most prudent people to scrap the trip. The blogging of whole event seemed odd since it pointed to what some might consider gross negligence on the captains part. Maybe he was doing the blogging for our benifit. Often people do things when they are up against it. There is a term for fires that are started for the purpose of collecting on insurance. It doesn't come to mind at the moment. No matter. I'm glad everyone made it back to land okay. It just made me wonder. What does this mean? wc[/i][/b] I couldn't crack the code.

I don't suppose I'll ever find out, but it's an awfully busy place for a boat to sink so quickly. Perhaps it sank overnight due to some kind of thru-hull failure or something. It's also 60 yards from shore and 100 yards from the harbor masters office.

D.D. ... it didn't effect me :) i though maybe the owner could be a little upset ..

B.C. Ferry's parked a big one I'm thinking Wright sound bottom of Douglas Cannel .. hundred's of trips approx. two mile wide and the bloody Island moved over and hit them .. ... three on the bridge other than the helmsman the other two didn't fess up where or what they were doing ... the boat is now referred to as Queen of the deep originally called Queen of the North .... the last words leaving college when i wrote my ticket was:

FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT

and i have seen it a lot of times, same old same old and crash!!! wc
