Yup, good weekend to stay home and watch the tube. We're going to head to the coast tomorrow and take a peek at 40' seas....we'll be leaving the boat at home. They're calling for 100 mph gust tonight on the north coast....gots to keep a lookout to see if I can spot the Astoria/Warenton fleet flying by.
go Hawks

Ken- Won't those waves throw a whole ______ (wheelborrow) load of clams up on the beach?

I seem to remember going to the Oregon coast about 40 years ago after a big storm, and therre we clams all over the beach.

Might be a great opportunity if you could get them while they're still fresh, providing they're legal and healthy to take this time of year!

Be sure to take your surfboard, anyway!

Joe.

Man, you guys are a tough crowd to pick on. I thought for sure the "curling" would get a cool come-back. :) Anyway, hope all of you enjoy the big game...I'm not much of a sports guy.

That's some nasty weather you're in for! I thought we were going to have it nasty.

Forecast for Kodiak Island
Tonight
Snow likely in the evening...then snow after midnight. Snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. Blowing snow reducing visibilities to 1/2 mile. Lows in the teens to mid 20s. Southeast wind increasing to 30 to 45 mph.
Saturday
Snow in the morning...then snow and rain in the afternoon. Snow accumulation of 1 to 6 inches. Storm total snow accumulation 3 to 10 inches. Highs in the mid 30s to lower 40s. Southeast wind 40 to 60 mph with possible gusts to 80 mph near channeled terrain.
Saturday Night
Rain and snow. No snow accumulation. Lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Southeast wind 30 to 45 mph with possible gusts to 60 mph.

Looks like a good weekend to stay home.

damn weather stinks all over. That big time professional curling is all fake, I don't watch it :)
Joe, I don't know about clams but the last time they had a blow like this it threw the New Carrisa on the beach. Last year was great for clam digging & we still have some left,, got's to get um consumed before we harvest more

If this "wind storm" develops like they're predicting, we may be watching the game by candlelight. Durn temperature is getting warmer too.....good grief things aren't lookin' good......TV by candlelight and warm beer... :disgust

Actually, since I've got a generator wired into the house, we can still keep the beer cold and I can watch the game on TV while Carol does the laundry in the washer and dryer. :wink

Good luck, dave...
Sea Wolf, it's late up here, or early, depending on one's perspective, and the winds have begun in south Seattle. Buster and I were just out battening down Bambina when we absorbed the wind and rain. He's sorta like a dog, and I love the rain, so all was well.

Still, in a few hours I'm driving over the pass to eastern Washington. If bad stuff happens to me, like killer trees or naughty swirls of snow, just manufacture nice things to say at my funeral. Here's help: Mercurial but kind, Cat Guy liked boats and Brussels sprouts, garlic, too, and felt very fortunate to sea his Seehawks win the 2006 Super Bowl.
Hawk doubters, prepare to be shocked.

5:55 a.m., the wind has just started blowing here in Fall City. We have a big tree growing out of a stump in our front yard, the top is dead to boot. With a south wind, it is pointed right at where Daydream and Expedition are normally parked. Been trying to convince Patty to get rid of this tree for years, but she thinks its "pretty." Moved boat to street yesterday, cars just now. Maybe a good gust will come along and solve my problem, hope it misses the garage! If anybody needs firewood, this tree is AVAILABLE! Come and take it down! On our way to Birch Bay when Patty gets up, turn on tube, turn gas heater up to 90, snuggle down for the weekend...GO SEAHAWKS!!!!

Whoo, you guys and the road, take care. It is a stormin. Up Mac and Linda's way, gusts to 68mph, north of Dave S, 79mph! And the main storm hasn't hit yet. The good news, Monday and Tuesday the sun will be out and no wind. Sounds like boating weather to me. Finally.

Catman, get your mercurial butt over the pass! You know Mercury was the god of travel, amoung other things, so you will be ok. Robbi

Go Hawks

Robbi: You are 100% correct.... how un-C-Dory of us to spell it as we have..... GO C-Hawks!!!

Luna C: Yep.. Spelling I can not... Rumor has it in our family when we hit the island in New York our name was O'Honahand....and no one could spell it. Being owners of carrier pigeons, they changed our names to Byrd. Now, the way we spell in my family, I have no doubt that could very well be true.... I know the Irish blood runs strong in our family too!! :beer :beer

Auburn: Now, we have a REAL bird that we fly, an American Golden Eagle, Tiger VI right now. Some may have seen the bIrd fly in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Great stuff and still flies each game in Auburn, AL. Bad news is when ESPN mounts that go any-where give-em a view from above camera, her flight pattern is drastically reduced due to the cables going to the top 4 corners of the stadium... so....as you could guess.... big talk about simply not using that camera in OUR stadium..... LET HER FLY AND SORE AROUND. It is truly great when she makes 2 or 3 large circles working her way down to field level. .......and then, Shawn flies up to Seattle after graduation to play a little NFL...

GO C-HAWKS

Now for kicks and grins... I ran spell check on this and only had the change the spelling of..... you guessed it.... pigeons..... Ya gotta love it.

Apologies in advance to the Scandahoovians among us. Ole and Lena lived on Rhododendron Street. Lena dies, and Ole calls the mortuary to pick up the body. They ask "Where do you live?" Ole replies "On Rhododendron Street." They ask "Could you spell that please?" Silence for a moment, then Ole asks "Could I just drag her over to Elm Street?"

OK...OK.... GO HAWKS !
( there... I said it... )

Since I won't have a team of my own to root for... Think I'll go fishin'

Only 7 months left until "GO COLTS" !

I'm currently "posting" this on "generator power". We had 7 "calls" for trees across power lines and roadways since 0100 HRS. (Not much sleep as I'm a Volunteer Fireman at home when not working full-time as a FF/PM in Lake Stevens).
Made it back home to "fire" up the generator, so C & J could make coffee and take hot showers. Happily, we still have cable connection for TV, so we are still able to keep up with the news and if it stays like this tomorrow we'll still be able to drink COLD BEER and watch the C-HAWKS "K.A.!" :smilep

Dave, with conditions like that I feel sure you have re-stocked the back up fuel for the generator. I have all the confidience in the world you are good to go on your beverage counts for the game...

Scandahoovians I am not..... but I could not spell that street either.
I think a short drag over to Elm sounds like a reasonable response to me. :idea

Good One

You betcha! I'm ready! Managed to make it to Haggen grocery store today, purchased some Snoqualamie Falls Brewery Wildcat IPA :beer , currently chillin' out in the refer. Plenty of generator fuel available... :thup . The winds have stopped, now back on the mercy of the Public Utility District. Took a walk through our woods today and counted 5 trees that blew down in the wind, so I've got next years firewood on the ground, (just have to get out the chainsaw, cut it up, split it and stack it, however I won't be doin' that tomorrow....bring on the Steelers! Go C-Hawks!

anybody watching football?

Oh yeah, it's dark out and the boat's parked for the day.... BTW - did anyone else think that Mick Jagger's singing (while never that great) was particularly awful today? The band sounded good but it's time to get a new lead singer...
