Suzuki 2007 DF50TL trim sender

Hello:

Has anyone replaced the trim sender on a Suzuki 2007 DF50TL? After researching the part I ordered a new one.

It should be a fairly straight replacement, however, the old one has two leads (as shown in the manual) and the new one has four leads. I rechecked the parts number and the older ones are obsolete and referred me once again to the new number.

Is there an adapter? New wiring leads? Suggestions?

Thanks! Spuncopper

I replaced mine, but it was a Yamaha F50. Pricey little buggers. I now make sure and squirt it with fresh water when I flush the motor.

I would guess that the gizmo is just a variable rheostat. If you can't find info on the web as to which of the two wires to use, you could use a multimeter to see which two show a variable resistance when you wiggle the sensing arm. Failing that, you could use trial and error temporary connections. Only problem might be a connection that is a dead short could blow a fuse. Best would be finding a new manual online and read through the electrical schematic. Or call Suzuki. There's an idea.

Thanks Marco Flamingo,

I've e-mailed Suzuki Marine. Luckily the tilt and trim still work and I can adjust the trim by feel 'cause I don't expect a speedy reply.

Since the old senders have been superseded there must be a manufacture's approved way to connect it back up. I'm hoping there's someone on here that can tell me what to look for.

Thanks again. Be safe out there!

Thanks BrentB,

I usually purchase parts from Browne's and I verified the part via their website and... eating a little crow here, sigh... I went to a website that sells parts cheaper but that's about all. I'll call them Monday and grovel a little.
