Suzuki Tach question

The truck to splash my boat arrives in a few hours. She is ready to go less a wash and wax. I look forward to the maiden cruise post sea trials.

To be prudent I fired up the engines this morning. I noticed when I shut them off the tachs would stay where they were idling (just under 1000 rpm). When I turn the key on again the tachs would move back to zero, the engine diagnostics would do their thing, etc all was normal.

Any ideas as to the cause?

Thanks

Matt, mine do the same thing. I also think it's normal. Once you get some time on your engines, they'll tell that to you too when you first light them off. They'll also blink at 100 hours to remind you to change the oil. I didn't know that on a trip back from Smith Island in the bay (20+ miles) and came back on one engine. A good drill though, no engine problem. Easily reset but a good reminder.

I bought the shop manual, expensive but worth it to get all the info.
