Tacoma Narrows Question

Wear a Base Jumper flight Suit ($500), and during a peak tide, stand on the edge of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. You will see the biggest whirlpool on the planet below you. Jump and fly into it. The whirlpool is really a time tunnel. Trust us on this.

My uncle spoke a little chinook jargon. His use of skookum was always "big or powerful" as in "use the skookum hammer" (actually a 4 lb. sledge).

Running tidal rapids in a C-Dory makes for a much larger time window than for displacement vessels. In a C-Dory, Tacoma Narrows only gets "lively" at max current. But there are still plenty to be wary of. Here's a picture I took when going through Skookumchuck (big water) Narrows. I've seen boats "ride the tongue" on plane through Skookumchuck on a flood tide. No thanks.
