Team Geezer

Might just be me!

I'm going to get a new hip joint real soon, 'cause the one on my right side doesn't have any cartilege in it anymore. Will find out when tomorrow morning!

Joe. :wink

Joe - glad you acknowledged it was probably you. I am doing my best to fight this old age stuff, but it is starting to catch up with me. I'm guessing I am a little over the hump and starting on the downhill side. Don't know how far the bottom is, can't see it because of the curves, so I will continue enjoying life like there is no end.

Keep us informed about your hip replacement.

Will say a little prayer that all goes well.

Joe,

I hope that everything goes well with respect to the possability of getting a new hip. I think I am a few years behind you, but going for a new knee and not a hip. I wish I could dodge the bullet, but it runs in the family.

Kind Regards,

Steve

Know what ya mean. Took one of Dusty's contemporaries to the Indian casino on Tuesday for her 90th birthday, which means I hit the magic 70 about a month ago. I tried to ignore it but I can't convince anybody that Mom gave birth when she was only 10 years old. :cry

Know what you all mean! I remember when all the gals in the bars were of the M & M set! (that means between Menopause and Medicare!! ), now it's just after M! :crook

Hang in there everyone, I've still got one original knee and both hips although they all hurt! The airport guys have a field day with the titanium knee! They haven't found the plate in the head yet....

Just saw a newspaper article that said gin soaked raisins helped with joint pain and warded off arthritis. Funny olives never worked, I think I'll try the raisins. Wonder how many I need?

Being a click away from having spent 6 decades on this planet, I'm just a pup compared to some of you but I feel like the gentleman in Wandering Sagebrush's photo. :cry

With arthritis making turning my head a effort and a titanium knee like Charlie, I sometimes think I need a hoist to board the Jeanie P.

Sea Wolf, hope things work out for you.

Allan

Joe, I've known folks that have had hips, knees and shoulders done. All have told me that the hip is the easiest to have done and recover from. Not sure why but hope that makes you feel better.

Let us know how it goes. We're all pulling for you, sure missed you at SBS08!

Charlie

The verdict is in!

I will have to have replacement surgery, probably do it within a month.

Actually looking forward to the new hip if not the surgery and recovery part!

Hope to be able to enjoy the summer on the boat!

Thanks for all your concern!

Joe. :thup :teeth

Joe - our prayers will be with you.

Looks like we will get a small reprieve from Joe’s post when he goes in, but look out for an avalanche of post when he is laid up at home recouping, with nothing but this site for entertainment. :wink

Joe- All of us on "Team Geeser" will play on while you are on the temporary inactive list. Come back soon cause we need you. In the meantime we're bringing Oldgrowth Dave up from the minors. But, not to worry, your spot on the first team is being held for you. :star

I don't know about the gin soaked raisins but that Hagen Daz rum raisin is better than APC's. If you come to this corpsman's sickbay I'll write you a perscription for Snoqualmie root beer, 1/2 a corned beef on rye and Hagen Daz rum raisin. It won't cure anything but it sure is 'palliative'.

Joe,

My mom had her hip done a couple of years ago and her only regret was that she didn't have it done sooner. Took her about 2 weeks of walking around without stairs to get moving OK again and then after about 4-6 months, she was way more mobile than before. Go for it and don't delay, you'll probably feel a lot better when it's over. Sorry you didn't make it up to the SBS - you better get this done and recover in time for Neah Bay! (ya old geezer).

Just don't leave the hospital with anything more than the doc puts in. Ahh yes, physical therapy. Nurse Ratchett awaits you. :wink
