So, what ails Molly? Wishing her well...

Well, we just brought Molly home from the vet. The news is not good... she has a bowel obstruction that the vet thinks is probably lymphoma. We are faced with a very tough decision: surgery that she may not come out of or putting her down. Doing nothing is not an option; it would be death by starvation. Six months before Molly came to our door, we had to put down a sweet kitty that had been a part of our family for almost 22 years. At that time, I said, "Never again." I didn't count on meeting a personality like Molly. No matter how much this hurts, the time we've had with Molly has been enlightening... our lives are better for the experience.

How I feel for you... and Molly. The animals are such a deep comfort and "stimulus" (kind way of saying 'occasional PITA) to us.
We cannot thank you enough for sharing yours and Molly's adventures with us. Due to you, I've been trying to train one of my cats to leashwalk... so far to no avail. They certainly have a way of working their way into our hearts and making our lives more complete.
Thanks again for all your sharing. We are all feeling a bit of your pain...

Marcia and I are terribly sorry to hear your news. In addition to our Airedales, we also have three cats who are a big part of our "family", so we know what you are going through and share your feelings.
To reiterate what you wrote to us when we had to put Valkyrie to sleep due to cancer, " Know that many of us will be thinking of you (and Molly) tonight."

Jim and Joan so sorry to hear of Molly's problems. I have been right where you are. The last pet I lost was a Chihuahua named Taco that had been with me for 9 years all over the country. When he passed I told myself never again. That was 8 years ago. About a year ago I got another named Smokey and have become really attached to the little fellow. Just last week we adopted a Fox Terrior to keep the Smokey the Chihuahua company. Truth is I know the pain when we lost Taco and thought having a second pet would lessen the pain when one or the other passed. I recently met a couple at the NC gathering that had a 19 year old Teacup Chihuahua so these pets may outlive me! You will never have a pet to replace Molly but if you chose will have another and experience joy from that pet. Again sorry for your pain.

Judy and I are sadden by your news of Molly's ill health. Having a heard of puppies and Ol' Lucky I know that we will
be facing the same decisions sometime in the future. We don't look forword to that day anymore then you. We let them pull on our hearts and are much better off due to having had them in our lives. Never say no to another pet, they need loving humans as much as we need them. Our hearts go out to you.

Our thoughts are with you two and Molly.
Our older Golden Retriever was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer about a month ago. Aggressive chemo has gotten tumors under control and restored his "attitude" but we know it cannot last forever. He was a rescue at Thanksgiivng 2005 and my "therapy dog" requiring twice daily walks after my back surgery. First walks were a 100' and my wife took him the rest of the way but now we can go a couple of miles when Las Vegas temps allow. We adopted another Golden 4th of July and the two are our children -- morning coffee klatch at the park with 10 to 20 dogs, balls to retrieve and "business" to take care of. Pet health issues, personal health issues and other personal issues all seem better when we all get together with our dogs.
It is fun to enjoy your adventures with you, now we will share your sadness.

She's just another of us C-Brats, one of the family, as far as I'm concerned.
Our pets assume very special places in our hearts over their lives, and Molly is one of our favorite characters.

Recently in talking with a friend who drives another brand of boat, but lurks here occasionally, I mentioned a gentleman who goes by Catman, and the friend said "Oh yes, Molly's family, I love the cartoons." ......Well close. (My apologies Brock). Molly will not be forgotten.
Like many here, I have been in the position you are in now, and there is no easy out. And I know it doesn't make it easier for you, but just know that though many have gone before, this path is still rough and the best we can do is offer the hope that time will dull the ache and the joys will intensify in memory.

When the vet opened her up, she was full of cancer. I promised her we'd take care of her when she adopted us. We did... right up to the end.
She was an amazing cat... followed me around like a puppy. Came when we called her. She would walk on a leash, but it was just for looks, 'cause she always walked alongside us. The house, the boat, and the RV are full of reminders of all the great times we had. Right now, I feel like my heart has been ripped out, but in time, we will celebrate the life and the spirit of our furry kid.

Anne and I are so sorry to hear about Molly's passing. We have never met her or you in person but like many others here, we feel we knew Molly through your writings and pictures. We share in your grief. She was a very unique and special part of your family.
