Just finished an enjoyable cruise on the western part of the Erie Canal-sorry to report that the Newark Dinner is for sale-I know many a C- Brat has stopped for a meal which can best be "termed" a real bargain-if you google the Newark Dinner there is an interesting article about this dinner.

Re: the cruise- very quiet- went through most locks as the only boat-5 bucks a gallon for gas-had the Newark Marinia to myself-most attractions/businesses open- so if you desire solitude the last week of September is a good time to cruise-weather was mild but rainy and humid- this is a nice place to spend a week.

Boy, lots of C Dory activity on the western Erie canal in the last couple of weeks! We cruised to Buffalo intending to go on through the Welland canal to Toronto and back to the St Lawrence via the north shore of Lake Ontario, but the weather on the lakes was so bad we turned around and returned on the Erie, stopping at all the towns we missed on the way west. Met Roy and Laura on their CD 22 Fun Patrol, saw both the CD 29 Roy mentioned in his recent post and another CD 22 at the Mid-Lakes marina, but missed the Newark diner.

Good breakfast food, cheap at the Newark diner but those bathrooms needed a serious remodeling. Newark was one of our favorite towns along with Spencerport.

Glad you liked the diner. It is one of my favorite places.(I call it funky) I don,t think the bathrooms will get a refresh untill a new owner takes over.
