A old man lived on a island here in charleston. He fished on his dock daily. He had goats and chickens. The name of the island is now goat island across from the isle of palms. He would let the extra eggs sit on the dock and rot. When the snowbirds cruised and threw him a wake he would throw eggs.
I guess I would have handled cemiii situation differently than he did. It appears he handled it right but if it was me, one or all three of the goons would be dead.
If I had my infant child and wife next to me and an out of control person did as was done to cemiii, I would not take a chance that that was the end of it. He could very easily attack my wife or child next. If he was not shot at the door and he was walking back, I would assume he was going around the car to attack my wife, so he would get a bullet in the back of the head.
