After getting our garage/apartment, my boat lift and my tractor barn, our house is finally here! It will be "set" tomorrow, about 3000 sq ft modular. Here's a pix of the foundation



The tractor barn is behind the garage apartment, 30x40' metal building on a slab. Either boat will fit in there, of course the tractor and it's stuff are in there too..;.

Here's a house section coming in yesterday. The tractor barn is to the right.



And here are all the pieces (5 trailers worth) sitting in the yard ready to be set tomorrow! A 90 ton crane is coming about 7AM to start and it should be assembled by the end of the day! Ordered it about the middle of September!



Sally can't wait, I'm a little excited myself!

Congrats on the new digs! A house is a great thing to lock up and leave so you can go boating. Just funnin' ya, Charlie. I'll look forward to seeing the completed project.

The only real downside to a new house: furniture shopping. OK, and the phrase that really makes my blood run cold: window treatements! :shock: Lots of trips to lots of places, a great deal of head nodding, trying to look sincerely interested, and the frequent usage of the phrase, "Yeah, that one's nice - whatever you like best, dear." :twisted:

As an old Navy guy, I'm sure you'll understand why that statement has me biting my tongue, Charlie.

New houses are fun and with that "almost basement," running CAT6, video, cable and RG8 will be a snap.

They are all already run and have outlets on the walls where I designated for them to go. They terminate in rolls where I will mount terminal/junction boxes, I'll do that hookup myself! That's the fun part anyway, it's no fun snaking cables through a wall! This was made by Excel in PA and WVA, they customized a design for me. I'l post some more pictures this weekend, the 90 ton Crane comes at 0700 and the set crew gets here at 0400 to start unwrapping stuff! Raining today or it would have been done by now. Radar says it'll stop in about 30 minutes and be clear after that for about 4 days. Time to get the shingles on the roof over the weekend!

What great fun.....I can just feel your excitement.... I love big projects...especially when they all come together.... I am anxious to see the end result.... heck I have been getting a roof installed for three weeks...and I won't have shingles finished before the weekend....

Congratulations one of my neighbors recently put in a modular home and it is really nice. They had it dried in in a matter of days. I really like the concept of pretty much turn key construction. I was going to build a new home when I retired but the thought of dealing with the contractors and the wait changed my mind and I've been in construction all my life.

Is there any way to find these home builders on the Internet so that you don't get the guys that build trailers but instead the guys that build panels? Many years ago I was interested in the panel construction but could only find the homes from the same people that built mobile homes.

Sorry, should have posted that link. Well, it's about a quarter to six in the morning here, the crew has been working since about 4 unwrapping this house. A big job. The 90 ton crane gets here about 7 and then the fun begins. The factory even sent a rep to help with this one because of the design. Got a cathedral ceiling at the creek end with big glass and lots of prefab ceiling panels that have got to get set with a crane.

I'll take/post pictures when it gets light.

BTW, this took about 8 weeks from order inception to delivery including all the design changes I made. Pretty quick..

OK, lots of progress so far! I've got a new nested album in my main album, not many pix there so far but there will be.

It's nearly 1PM now and they are nearing completion.

Gotta get back out there, everytime I come in here I miss something and I don't know how they get along without me. Probably better! :wink
