When I was a youngster, I had the opportunity to meet JFK when he was running for president. He was the grand marshal of the Medford Pear Blossom Parade.

The attached photo is one of President-elect Obama with the children of one of my friends (who by the way is from Kenya, as was President-elect Obama's father). He was campaigning in Oregon at the time.

I will never forget meeting Kennedy, and these kids will have a memory of history that is truly phenomenal...

I shook Richard Nixon's hand in Brockton Massachusetts Train Station when he was running with Ike for the Presidency. didn't wash my hand for a few days until Mom made me do it. I never forgot it.

When I was a kid, we lived on Vancouver Island. It was 1958, the British Columbia centennial celebration and the Queen was coming to the Parliament. My Dad put me ontop of the stone rail at the road just in front of the Parliament building front doors. Just in front of me, and stretched each way as far as I could see were full dress RCMPs. We waited for several hours. When she came down the line, she stopped and talked to the RCMP officer right in front of me. I can still hear her saying, "Thank you for your service today, Leftenant." Still gives me goosbumps.

I got a hand-shake from Kennedy in 1960 in Carpentersville, IL. I'll never forget that day on my Dad's arm reaching over the rope in a humble shopping center parking lot.
