The Weather in Seattle

We are planing on driving from Colorado to Seattle next week for the SBS -- sounds like your mountains are getting heaps of snow -- any suggestions for best routes to follow to avoid slippery roads??
I would assume you are going north to Cheyenne then east on I-80 to Salt Lake City, then north on I-84. When you get to I-82 in Herminston, OR, don’t take it. It would be the logical way to go to Seattle via Snoqualmie Pass. Instead, stay on I-84 until you get to I-205 in Portland, then north to Seattle. This will take you through the Columbia Gorge. There are the possibility of ice storms in the Gorge which will make the driving conditions treacherous, but a lot less likely of happening than packed snow and ice on the mountain passes..

Thanks for the suggestions, folks (and DaveS, you're right, we'd be more comfortable coming by sea!!) The 747 is a good idea, but we'll need the truck to haul back all the loot we expect to win at the CDory dinner raffle!!

We'll be coming along the Columbia River Gorge and carry a brandy jug under the trucks bow -- (like those ol' Great Bernards) -- for survival rations -- looking forward to seeing all. that should hold us 'till we see those kegs from the brewers!!

I think you're right about the good weather! Seems all the bad stuff has passed us and is giving the heartland and the east coast fits now -- hope our easterners can get outa town ok!
