Will be spending next week docked in Venice Florida visiting friends. Any suggestions on places to visit on day trips from there?

Venice Audubon guided walk with naturalist.
Shelling at low tide at Sanibel.
Shops and eating at St Armand Circle off Sarasota.
Stay a few nights at Cayo Costa State Park marina. Beach is all yours this time of year.
Burnt Store Marina has new ramp and rig parking.
Plus what your local buds advise.
83 degrees in Marathon.
We need to get back to the pool now.

Safe Travels and have fun!
John

Lunch at Casey Key fish house N of Venice. Real old Florida place. Then drive down the key and ogle the multimillion dollar houses.

If you find yourself in St. Armand circle, by all means go to the Columbia restaurant. We were served the two best crab dishes of my experience, both featuring fresh Stone Crab. One chilled with lemon and drawn butter and the other warm with Cajun spices. I still can't decide which one I liked better.

Thanks, everyone will be taking your advice and looking around.

Venice o Beach, with its offshore coral reef, and Caspersen Beach, where shark teeth are often found. Artists use the teeth and downtown area is interesting like Venice Ave for homes and shops. Venice is close to other places like Sarasota, Ringling Museum, Shelby Gardens, Mote Marine

It is stone crab season. Try them and the soft ones, too. Pink or red shrimp are available. I like blue point crabs. Take drive along the coast to Bradenton. Spectacular area, views, sun rises and sun sets. Wolf moon a couple of nights ago. Same for rocket launch this week. Or take am or Pm charter out fo grouper
