Thinking about selling 2025 TomCat

Have a 2023 Tomcat bought in Feb 24. Lots of upgrades. Rhodan Spot Lock, 4000W inverter, AC and more. Twin 175 Suzukis with under 60 hrs. Love the boat but thinking of going bigger. Just throwing it out there. Wondering what you guys think it is worth. New to sight but been watching CBrats since I started looking at Cdory.

A list of upgrades would help with the estimates. Basically, close to the price of a new boat--discounting the additional accessories placed on the boat.

Way back the used boats were selling for the same price as they were when new. Each owner was adding accessories, and those were "discounted". Example 1993 22--Cost new about $25,000 with trailer and engine. Owners added Bimini, more batteries, electroncis including Radar, upgrades in the motor etc--and each paid 25K and sold the boat a few years later for 25K.

Bob is right about knowing the upgrades....they're huge and make a difference. But with that said, you're likely going to take a substantial hit upon selling it this early in the game. If it were 10 years old, you might just get what you paid for it like Bob illustrated. Just as an example, there was a very nicely equipped 2017 that the asking price was $168k. It sold. And there is a super nice low hour 2021 with lots of nice upgrades for sale in Anchorage for $210k, but it's been for sale for weeks.

Here are the some of the upgrades I can think of.

Dometic AC- factory
Wallas Stove- factory
Rocket launchers $ 4800
4000 W Inverter with 400AH battery $ 3300
Rhodan Spot lock $ 6800
Bimini Top $ 460
Captains Seat $ 900
Garmin FF/GPS $ 2400
New rear cushion $ 400
Cockpit Shower $ 250

I was thinking $215-220K, not sure. The boat is basically brand new

If the cost of a new 255 is $254,601 (AI on the internet), then the $210,000 to $220,000 would be a good starting price.

One problem with items such as the spot lock trolling motor, might not be an accessory that many people would want in a Tom Cat. The AC makes the boat more suitable for Southern Climes than the PNW. Few would want the 4KW inverter and 400 amp hour battery (I understand that it will run the AC for a few hours). I am not saying that these are bad choices for you or for me, but that it might limit the buyers who were willing to pay for some of the upgrades.

Also Florida boats tend to be more difficult to sell--with people (often mistakenly) feeling that there is more degrigration from sun exposure and the warmer salt water.

Another question currently is what are boat prices doing? I have seen some very nice boats recently having radical drop in the asking price after being on the market for some time. There is a lot of uncertainty which is reflected in the Market. There is 4 season boating in Crystal River--where in AK it is much shorter. Also the location in Florida is less likely to sell quickly vs a C Dory in the PNW.

This appears to be a well equipped boat, and a good buy for a person who wants a "new" boat at a substantial discount.
