This could be huge...

Hey B~C, you've always wanted to blow something up - here's your chance. You have also long wanted to host another CBGT.

Some Sunday morning in May they are planning to implode the cooling tower at the Trojan nuclear site just upstream from Longview. The best viewing should be from the river. Maybe a St. Helens or Kalama gathering is in order?? Might even get in some steelhead fishing for those so inclined (there's a good chance that some of the nuclear mutant fish will be active that weekend).

Something to ponder, anyhow......

I think you're on to sumptin there, perhaps a get together come May in Kalama or St H may be in order. Tanning bed? heck with that, aint nothing like starting summer with a nice radioactive glow.

This could be some of them mutant fish critters doncha think?

Captains Choice,

That last one looks more like the fish you can catch down by that Wauna paper mill place that TyBoo Mike works out of. Don't think they always was their hands after lunch or something.
I do like the idea about the take down of Trogan as a monumental gathering. Maybe the beer boys will come up with a "Glow in the dark Stout" for a remembrance.

the nucular diet tribe, are those the folks fixin to build that big casino just down the road from me?

Charlie, I aint never seen a fish like that before, is that a trim tab that fish is sporting?

It would be good viewing from the river. I would imagine the C.G. would be out there staking out a safety corridor. We could make a helluva weekend out of it, spend Saturday night in Portland or Bacon Rock and finish the weekend with the big bang....the big bang cruise

Is the Big Bang cruise still on? I'd be interested. After all, I was one of those early morning geeks in March 2000 who elbowed my way to within three miles of the Kingdome implosion. Luckily, I was able to see a small object fall, because I had the advantage of my trusty binoculars and acres of free-range expression atop the hood of a '73 Eldorado.

The assembled mob that morning hooted and roared their approval when the concrete orb succumbed to a cooperative partnership of disrespectful explosives. Not me. I knew I'd miss the homely old blob. Still do.

Any chance an inquiring kind can get 300 level seating for this gig?
I'd like to drive down and meet you guys somewhere. I'm portable and well behaved. Usually.

This event may make for a poor official cruise event for a few reasons. One is the feeling that every boater in a tri-county area is going to be jockying for viewing position on the river and the other is that I've heard that they are only going to blow it if it's raining, that could make a date hard to pin down.

Catman, missed you at the factory doins, you're more than welcome to beat feet down here for some southern Washington hospitality and a viewing seat from a ridge across the river

...they are only going to blow it if it's raining, that could make a date hard to pin down.

That's a joke, right?

The thought about the river full of boats occurred to me, but I figure if Pat and Patty bring their new tug we could clear out an area for us.

Whenever they do it, it would probably be a good time to avoid the river up there. And the chances of finding dock space anywhere close is pretty slim the night before if a morning show is assured. Maybe we should just watch it on TV and someone can tape it for CM.

But if we can make it work, CM for sure has a ride on the TyBoo.

More than likely they would simply have everyone trying to get close to them just to find out what it is!

Man, I gotta find me an engine quick! That would be cool to watch!

If they're waiting for rain, they're missing one heck of a good chance. :disgust

I heard on the news today, this is scheduled for Sunday morning the 21st of May. Can't remember the exact time but believe it was 8 AM plus or minus an hour. I-5 will be blocked both directions when they blow it.

Yeah -they are still planning to drop it. I guess the river will be shut down for five miles with lots of enforcement boats out. B~C's right - it's a good day to stay away.
