This may be a little "Out of Line"

Unexpectedly I have to be in Fort Myers for 2 months from March 9th to May 12th. because of the time frame I decided to take "Plan-"B". Here comes the question. Would anyone have a Florida,West Coast Garmin Blue Chart that they wouldn't mind lending me. I have the book of paper charts but I like the pinpoint location my Garmin 188 gives me.
I'm not sure if this is an appropriate question on this site, but I thought I'd ask.

I assume that what you are looking for is a pre-recorded data cartridge. The unlock codes for the CD version of BlueChart are tied to the serial number of a specific device, so would be of little use on someone else's unit. If you can't find a data card to borrow, try eBay. Last time I looked, I saw several new/used SW Florida data cards up for auction.

It's a very appropriate question. I loaned my chip for the Ches Bay to Bill and El a while ago. They are very easy to ship!! Good luck, if I had one, I'd send it to you!

And we appreciated Charlie's loan -- a chip off the ol' block, if I dare say so. We have also given nav. information to others after cruising an area and we believe asking for this kind of help to be an appropriate extension of this site -- helping friends -- and, like Charlie, would send you a chip if we had one for that area.

Thanks all for the understanding. Sometimes people say your taking money from the manufacturer pocket....I think like El & Bill, it's helping a fellow boater. Since I retired in 03, I watch what I spend my .........let me rephrase that, My Wife Watches What I Spend Our Money On, ha-ha . So with that said I would be using paper charts before I bought a New Chip unless I found a great buy on a used one on e-Bay
I have been looking at e-bay, but only found the Florida east cost chip.
I have 2 chips that I use a lot but would consider lending to fellow c-brats. They are New York, and the Cheasapeak.

I sold my 188 Map/Sounder a few months back and purchased the 398 with built-in charts or I would be more then glade to lend you one. As to the question as to if it is appropriate or not , I say "Yep" "Works for me", and to the point of taking money out of the manufacturers pocket..where Garmin is concerned, have at it. They have been doing it to us for years and they don't blink an eye about it. They had the market cornered for years, and now if you haven't noticed, with the Tom-Toms and all the others getting into the market, prices are falling fast. It is about time.

Hummmmmm....must have struck a cord with me on this subject. I will shut up now.

Why don't you get it and turn your display upside down? Oh wait, then you'd have to stand on your head too... Actually, there was some talk of getting an exchange together to share these to lend, like a library but no one, including me, volunteered. Maybe when and, if, I finally retire and have not died yet, I will...
