TomCat 255: The Fishbox Problem

TomCat owners,

Has anyone been able to solve the issue of the fishboxes filling up with water? Between this boats dismal deck drainage out the scuppers, and the poor seals around the fishboxes (my seals appear to be in good shape), my fishboxes are essentially unusable for keeping fish cold. Sure, we throw all the bottomfish in them, but for salmon or tuna or anything I'd like to keep iced, the boxes fill with water and melt the ice.

We've resorted to using the bait well for small salmon (holds ice surprisingly well), and a kill bag tied to the engine bracket for the fish too big for the bait well.

Thank you,

Rob

Rob. We drilled holes at the 4 corners of the gutter around the fish box. Water drained into the bilge rather than the fishbox. Also the drains in the bottom of the box helped keep it dry. See photos in my album for details.
