I'm going to be working with a local fabricator to create a removable towing bar that can be mounted to the rear of the Armstrong swim platform – motor mount. My goal is to have it poke out just past the motors so there's no way the line can rub or get caught in between them. I attached a picture kind of showing what I'm thinking about but just a concept at this point.
After speaking to several different people, one option would be to have the center console RIB towed right behind the boat on a very short line versus having it towed on a bridle further back. The RIB would literally be on the inside of the wake created by the motors and having it on a very short line would keep it from moving around too much. At this point, everything is theoretical so I will keep this group up-to-date.
If anyone has seen a set up like this or has any input, I would love to hear it as I haven't seen any information as of yet on towing a RIB Dinghy behind the Tomcat. By the way, the approximate weight of the Dinghy is around 400 pounds with the motor.
Thanks.
Sean
