TOWING C-Dory with Camper cover

TOGO

Is it better to tow with the cover and curtains on or to remove them. If this has been a topic before please direct me to the thread. How does it effect gas mileage? What about ware on the cover.
Looking forward to your comments :D

I prefer not to travel with a cover. Sunbrella isn't cheap and the wind doth blow. Unless extraordinary efforts were made to create the cover as a travel cover it will stretch every seam and the Sunbrella itself.

The only times I travel with a cover is off freeway and for short distances only, like from the storage yard to the house and back.

Take all the canvas off PRIOR to towing. The camper back is expensive and the wind at 60MPH can tear it up if given enough time. I wish I had always taken the canvas off prior to towing my CD 22. The canvas would be in better shape today.

It's best to completely remove the canvas.

For example, a bimini cover wrapped up and in its boot on the frame can still sustain damage from wind and vibration. Zipper and zipper pulls rubbing on the canvas caused wear that varied from abrasions spots to holes in the canvas on our current bimini.

We had new canvas stitched right over the old on the largest section of the bimini to extend the life of the cover.
