Today the 12 x 12 lenco trim tabs showed up in the mail. Been Waiting on these babies and really want to get the install right. so I need advice from the pub on this on. In the instructions it states that the out side edge needs to be at least 1 inch from the hard chine or edge of the hull.

Here you can see that the template I made is only a half inch from the edge. Is this ok?? Will it cause a lot of problems?? what type of problems?? or do you think It will be ok? I could go back and order 9x12's but I think I really need the surface area.

here's another shot showing the edge.

My other small problem is that the far right edge, the inside edge , mounting holes are right on a weld. I think that drilling new holes just half a inch left of the original holes will be ok along with a lot of 5200. Do you all think that it will hold all right??

I don't know about the edge spacing, but I would not drill into a weld!

Are you going to insulate the SS tab from the Aluminum? Stainless and aluminum together can cause corrosion of the aluminum. A starboard or nylon spacer somewhat larger than the SS tab would be good.
