Trim Tabs

Reposting this on this line to see if there are any more opinions. I'm not sure which particular one is the right one though. Are trim tabs an essential component on CD 22 and 25s Cruisers? I notice that all the new boats come with them and there's a mixed bag with the older ones. Does it depend on the year?

TIA

I use them every time out on my 22 cruiser, If not for lowering bow in choppy water, leveling out even on smooth water. I would say they would be the number one option I would get on a new boat.

They are necessary in my book. You will improve fuel economy and have a smoother ride. I think the older model boats were lighter in the transome and trim tabs might not of been as necessary. Now a days, we put bigger fuel tanks, bigger motors back there.

This last week, I had a chance to put about 200 miles on the CD 25, with the new Permatrim in place, plus the trim tabs. The motor may be a bit too low, but not sure I can raise it enough to be significant easily.

Definately the Permatrim and the trim tabs are complimentary, and work well together. The Permatrim definately made the boat much better going into chop and getting on a plane, as well as allowing a lower planing speed. I recommend both.

I have twins on my CD25 with Permatrims and oversize trim tabs, I second Bob's comments, absolutely (and I have no affiliation with Permatrim...).
