Great pictures -- amazing the line could hold such a weight. Sure an acrobatic critter. Thanks for sharing.

We had a black bear crawl through our kitchen window a couple years ago to feast on a counter top canteloupe and sample other kitchen fare.
He didn't like the taco seasoning much but he did make off with a stainless steel canister of coffee, never to be seen again. Would have liked to have the canister back but figured he might be a little jumpy with a pound of fresh ground java in his craw.

The best bear story here in the UP as told by my old friend Pete concerns his camp in the bush out at Prickett Dam. I went out to his camp to look at a new roof job for him and saw first hand where the bears had sharpened thier claws on the corners of his cabin. From soffit to grade the corners were shreaded. He called the DNR.
DNR, "Yes sir we will take care of it. Set a trap and haul the bear away. What is your address?"
Pete, "Fire number 1229."
DNR, ...laughter...
Pete, " What's so funny?"
DNR, " That's where we drop them off!"

I hope to earn my Yooper Merit Badge soon. As soon as I can build a C Dory from duct tape and drift wood. What a wanna be!

Thats good stuff!!! We have had a bear try to get a bird feeder on the second story of our house. Blacks are amazing climbers. I wasn't sure what was trying to get the feeder in the night, but a muddy paw print gave it away on the window in the morning.

Not my back yard. We don't put up with tresspassing in Fairbanks. These pics are from Anchorage where the gun controls are a little tighter.

I'd just received these photos. Information in that E-mail said that they were taken on Elmendorf AFB.

... We've learned that the bird feeder comes down at breakup. The one year we were late we had a sow and pair of cubs tear it down for a snack. The girls got some good photos of that, too.
