Underwater LED lights

I was wondering if anyone has installed them? Considered/thinking about it? They are definately pricey and the cheapest ones I could find were Attwood underwater LEDs.
 
I think they are cool but have no use for them here in the northwest. In your area they are great for fishing for bait in the early a.m. before heading off shore. I do think they would be fun attracting wildlife at night at anchor.
 
I installed a pair of ocean LED A3 blue lights on Miss Emily. Mounted them just inside of and below the trim tabs. We really like them. They look great, attract baitfish, make it easy to find the boat when night diving, and most importantly, they are very well made. Personally, I'd never go cheap for any thru hull items.

And if he has to check his lights every hour to see if they are working, it does not say much for the product reliability. Doubt anyone here would be interested.

The last time I was into Bridge Yachts in Port Dover the owner showed me his latest best seller. A blue led underwater light that replaced the drain plug. You removed your plug and installed this, the wire ran in through the centre of the plug. It was fairly $$ about 165.00 I think, but it looked fairly rugged.

Just a caution, using underwater lights to attract fish is illegal in a lot of areas in Canada.

What about if you are just looking and not fishing? I have done this at several docks just to watch the show. It is fun.

Hi Harvey, law only applies if you are catching the fish you are attracting. :wink Lots of boaters use them around the docks, at anchor or out on the lake for a night swim.

Just saying it pays to check local laws. Fishing illegally can have expensive consequences. One time fishing in Georgian Bay out of Parry Sound, I discovered that in one particular area near Parry Island - since its an Indian Reserve you need a licence from them as well as your Ontario license. :?

If I get lazy and put my rod in a holder , I have used the little glow sticks you put on the end of your rod.
