There have been Several C Dorys which have been damaged either in the surf (West) or by hurricanes (East). I suspect that this is one of those boats which had been rolled in the surf.
Note how high the bottom paint is take up in the bow. I suspect a some repairs done there--and cheaper to put bottom paint on it than re-gelcoat. How about that "helm seat"?
Too bad, it really looks ugly. (in my opinion).
This looks like a home made bracket with a jack plate--not a transom extension. There are also some modifications made of the splash well and aft gunnel. I would want someone to really look at the hull and see what was done. Some of the cuts on the inside of the gunnal look rough--probably not trimmed?? How about the engine control and fuel line, rust stains etc out thru the transom. I suspect that there could be compromise to the transom.
The trailer appears to be painted steel, (could be galvanized under?) How about that winch stand! I would be very suspicious about this whole setup. 900 hours on a newer engine may be a plus, but, how has the engine been cared for? Flushed after each salt water use?
Thanks for the heads up on this!
