Let the Fun Begin>>>>>>>.....................!!!

"SEATTLE (AP) Erik Folk kicked a 22-yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining and Washington's fired-up defense stymied fill-in quarterback Aaron Corp and No. 3 Southern California in a 16-13 victory Saturday.

It's the second consecutive season the Trojans have lost their Pac-10 opener days after an impressive win over the Buckeyes. This one will gnaw at USC coach Pete Carroll, who lost to former Trojans offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, now Washington's first-year coach."

(Not a boating topic, but one a lot of our guys will be talking about anyway!)

How was the game?
Head to Head?
lots of turnovers? interceptions?
Was USC flat after the OSU game?
Missed field goals?
Defensive pressure on the QBs?

I watched the first half before having to leave for a wedding. The UW defense played very tough and Locker is an impressive QB. He's tough, can run, throws accurately and is very elusive while still looking downfield. It appears Sark has inspired the players and made them believe. I'm not a UW graduate and have no connection w/ the school other than living here now and having to hear all the "WOO-WOO" from graduates.

I also need to mention that the Univ Of Hawai'i defeated WASU a few weeks ago 38-20. Go Warriors!

The game was awesome. The UW defense really shut down the USC game but to be fair, it was with a fill-in QB. More impressive was the UW offense. The offensive line held their ground with a bigger and ostensibly stronger USC defense and when he got into trouble, Jake Locker kept his cool and made a few big but very key plays. The field goal that tied the game up was an impressive 46 yards and the final UW drive burnt the clock down and put them in easy field goal position. The other key difference between the UW team of this year and last year is that the guys always seemed tired in the 2nd half last year whereas this year, they are still strong and fired up. I attribute some of that to psychology, but I suspect the conditioning is much better this year.

My wife runs the training table and "her boys" will be getting a special meal on Monday. BTW - anyone know someone who can make a UW branding iron? It would be cool if she could brand UW onto steaks for the guys when they have big win.

I like both schools for their academic and sports programs
Erik Folk drilled the FG, too with the line protecting him from what I saw from the highlights. It is was good game and early in the season No luck with the iron but a local SS food fab company can make one.

Alternately, the steaks could be branded...

(I don't care much personally about this, but it can be funny, nonetheless!)

Aw, come on you guys, this is serious stuff! Once again, my season is ruined. We love our TROJANS as much as we love our C-Dory! :love

"Bark for Sark" Are you kidding? Pete Carroll was just trying to let his former assistant have some early success. The SC players seemed to more concerned about counting their future NFL salaries than actually playing the game. Washington really wanted the game more than SC!

It looks like that the Pac 10 is really tough this year and also that California is the team to beat. After going to a mid-western college in the old days and seeing the Pac 8 lose the Rose Bowl year after year, I am really encouraged about the success of the conference. :thup

I think I'll feel sorry for myself some more :cocktail, and dream about what might have been. :rose :rainbow
