Would anyone have any idea what my 1999 Suzuki DF 70 and 1987 Johnson 8 hp 2-stroke would be worth, both are in excellent running condition. I have my mind set on a new Yam F90 if i can get a half decent price for these outboards.
 
Go to a dealer. They'll bring you more there on a trade in than they will trying to sell them yourself and a whole lot easier. Let him rig the new engine too, you won't regret it.

I would tend to argue that the dealer will not give as much as you could get on your own if your mind is set on it. If it is good condition, I wouldn't be surprised if the 8 hp goes for 3-4 hundred bucks pretty quickly. I think you would be hard pressed to get much more than 400 though. Sure sometimes you see them on the list forever for more, but they never sell.....

As for the main, you could probably get 1000 to 2500 for it depending on hours, cosmetics, and running condition. I paid 1500 a few years back for a good Evinrude 140 for my fishing boat in Spokane and was quite happy to pay the price for a decent runner.

Of course, these are just a just a guess and they are only worth what somebody will pay for them. I suspect you will get beans for them on a trade.....
 
The 99'ish Suzuki 50HP I have on my angler is amazing motor. They seem not to have the same brand loyalty as Honda, but IMHO they're just as good on motor. I'd guess you could get a little more than 1K-2.5K...but who knows, it's a strange market for everything.
 
When I re-powered my 16 foot open aluminum fishing boat. (worth maybe 900 bucks) with a 4500 dollar new 25 hp e-tech engine, I was really surprised at the high trade in value of the old Johnson 1976 model year 2 sttroke that the dealer gave me. About 500 bucks. It was a non running motor I bought on e-by a few years ago and I did a complete top to bottom rebuild, so it was in decent condition at the time of the trade in. The dealer said he could give me a good trade in because the 15 to 50 HP small old 2 strokes or four strokes used were in high demand. He did sell my old Johnson for over 800 bucks within 24 hours of removing it from the boat and he made money installing it on the new owners old fishing boat.

So, unlike cars, there may be some truth about letting the dealer have a go at giving you some trade in and possibly getting a better over all deal.
