Had to fix some deer for my Dear-

Venison steak cooked in a baking dish was the ticket for tonights dinner.
Cut steak in 6 to 8oz pieces and place in baking dish.
Sprinkle a little non-flavored tenderizer
Add-
3/4 cup water
fresh minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
salt & pepper

Stir ingredients and cover baking dish
Place in oven at 325f for 45-50 minutes

Served with garlic mashed potatoes, sucatash and a nice bottle of Cab.

How did you know I needed a new receipe? I'll just go pull some good old corn/soybean fed KY whitetail out of the freezer and surprise my DEAR tonight. Thanks Marcia

Roger,

That sounds like a good recipe. I had not tasted any venison for a number of years until this past November when I visited family in NE Oregon for a hunting trip (birds). A side dish that went really nicely with the venison was fried sweet potatoes. I was a bit hesitant, as I am not a fan of sweet potatoes, but I was proved wrong.

Chunked up, using olive oil, with salt and pepper and fried in a big cast iron skillet made a great accompaniment to the venison.

Our favorite is not take half of a venison back strap (not cut into chops) and marinate in a gallon freezer bag with fresh garlic and olive oil for two days in the fridge and then grill until it's medium rare.

Excellent!

Steve,
I love fried sweet potatoes.
Other favourites of mine are fried green tomatoes, or fried okra with summer squash.
dang it --- gone and made me hungry

Course-- I do try to stay away from to much fried food these days :cry
