Visiting Floriday

When I first read the link, it looked like this was one of the 30 foot Tom Cats built for commercial fishing--after looking at the pictures, and link, it is a 255 Tom Cat, not a 30 footer. I am sure you will enjoy chartering the boat.

If everything goes as planned I'm going to spend a couple of weeks around Christmas in the Keys. Planning the best way to do it now.

Thinking about dropping the boat in Key West then take the trailer to Key Largo. Hitch a ride back to Key West then spend 10 days heading from KW to KL.

OR...

So many options! :xlol

We have always enjoyed the west coast od Florida. The area near Ft Myers is usually warm in January. If you bring your boat you can cruise Pine Island Sound and go to Sanibell Island and Captiva Island. Both have wonderful Gulf side beaches and some of the best shell collecting. The sunsets are wonderful, you may even get to see a Green Flash.

With your boat you can go up the ICW from Ft Myers to Lake Okeechobee, a wonderful cruise. If you are boat less you can get a cruise on a stern wheeler from downtown Ft. Myers up the river and thru several locks. You can go all the way to Clewiston, they bring you back to Ft. Myers on a bus.

If you bring your boat, we have used the launch area at La Belle, Florida for many years. You can leave your rig parked there and we have never had a problem(no charge)

I agree with El and Bill about the St. Johns. It can be a little cool in January.

I've been from Lauderdale to Key West, up and back a few times, Hawk Channel and Bayside, in and out. This gives you weather and sea state options, which are good to have. Hang in Miami for some high end on water life with the big boys. If you haven't been through the Keys by water, I'd recommend you go for it.

There are numerous stops along the way from resorts, restaurants, marinas to cruiser hangouts, like The Dockside, Boot Key Harbor, Marathon. If you SCUBA or fish, you'll be in your element. Key West is a destination itself and a run to the Dry Tortugas Nat'l Park, about 100 miles west, gets you into the 'wilds'.

Brings back some great memories...

Aye.
