Wallas Help needed!

Hi Brats,

We have a year-old, 2016 25 and are currently on Lake Erie for a few days of cruising and just relaxing.

We had the same model two burner Wallas on our 2005 22 and never had a bit of trouble with it in the 11 years that we had Valkyrie.

We've turned on the stove as we usually do and the left burner barely puts out any heat and the right one none at all. There is also a strong diesel exhaust smell that we've never experienced before. We are familiar with a slight diesel odor, but not this.

We last used the stove about a month ago. We're runnning K1 kerosene as we always have and the battery is at 13.6, so a low battery is not the problem.

Also, the three "flames" on the upper left of the control panel are flashing during the entire process and only turn off when it shuts down.

There is a troubleshooting video on YouTube, but my Swedish is a bit rusty. It looks like they're replacing a blown fuse. If I lie on my back on the sole, I can see a 5 amp fuse in the bottom of the stove.

Any help is welcome!

Thanks,

Nick

The manuals for the stoves Mostly 85 series, but probably for all for codes.

Service of the wallas, including cleaning the glow plug.

I had talked to Nick on the phone, and suggested that if it fails to restart after 3 attempts, the 12 volt power supply needs to be turned off. This generally means the main fuse for the circuit--often connected to the battery or a terminal strip near the battery.

Also to check the fuel pump--introduce a small bubble into the fuel line, and be sure it moves up the tubing as the pump accentuates. (A clicking sound--solenoid pump.)

Also to check to be sure that all of the fuel line connections are tight, so no air is introduced into the fuel line (sucking air). Vibration sometimes loosens connections.

Check all fuses. Occasionally just removing the fuses, polishing the blades and re-install may cure the problem. (may just be resetting the stove?).

Wallas builds two kinds of devices - those that burn diesel and those that burn kerosene. Burning kerosene in a diesel product will usually do no harm to the device. Burning diesel in a kerosene device WILL damage it very quickly.

Best advice: Burn diesel in diesel devices and burn kerosene in kerosene devices.

One last point: Diesel #1 and kerosene are NOT the same thing!
This was a quote from Doug at Scan Marine. If your stove number has a "D" is can burn diesel, Many of use Kleen Heat, or Kerosene. I also had a 5 gallon can of "Liquid Candle wax" (lamp oil, super refined, I have used).
