Wallas Stove - Purchase One?

Yes, I think I would retrofit to a Wallas, and they cost too dogon much!!!

You might contact a dealer like Les at EQ and see if he can make you a deal. I know that there is some markup.

An alternative might be a butane stove on the counter top, plus a small heater like a force 10. I think several folks have that combination.

For sure you could. If I remember correctly the boat show pricing was about $2300 for a kit. Its a relatively straight forward job if you don't mind cutting a two inch hole in the side of your boat.
I really like the wallas. I personally would not trade it for propane or for one of the butane cookers as some people have done. In fact, I've got a wallas 1800 heater on order that I will be installing in the next month or so. I'm going to have one "hot" boat when I get both of them going.

Scan Marine is the US distributer:

I don't know how much they are in the US--but judging by UK prices which are on the web (at about 1000 lbs)--it will be somewhere North of $1500. Occasionally used onces show up.

Toyo also makes a similar stove.

The install is fairly simple--cuting the area for the burners, the hole in the hull, ventillation slot and mounting the fuel tank, and hooking up the wire directly to the battery. Probably a day's work.

If you are buying a used boat without a Wallas, could you buy one and retrofit, how much might it cost?

Thanks!!

I did just that last fall (picts in JMR II album) $2340.00

Bought mine from Scan Marine. Great support...easy to install. See all the pictures of the install in SeaQueen Album

Other's have documented their installs also.
I wouldn't be without the Wallas.

Fishtales had the Origo stove (an ok stove for cooking), but I had a Wallas installed.
So - to answer your question--- Yes you can add a Wallas after market.
If you have the Origo, you will need to retrofit for the Wallas. The Origo is larger than the Wallas and you will need to fill in around the counter.
