New information,

This tax is not going to happen this year.
The following was received in reply to a query.

" Thank you for your e-mail. Senate Bill 6900 wasn't introduced until
February 1st, only a few days before the "cut-off" date of February 8th
when bills had to pass out of committee. The bill didn't get a hearing,
let alone a vote. There is no action scheduled or anticipated for this
bill. It has been essentially dead since February 8th at 5:00 pm.
There will be no vote on this bill.

I'm sorry that you were given incorrect or incomplete information.

Thank you for letting us know your views. Senator Weinstein appreciates
hearing from constituents.

our provincial government just added a carbon tax on our gasoline .. i wonder if your state proposal isn't better if it goes on engine size .. ours starts in July of this year ... where they spend it is the other thing .. wc

wc,

The second part of this tax proposal (not show in the post) was a tax on CO2 emissions. The total tax on a large engine could be $600-$800.

I don't approve of an engine size tax that does not consider usage. My 7.4 liter van is driven very little. I use more gas in my Toyota car than I do in my van. The Toyota engine would be in the $0 tax bracket(under 1.9 liters displacement).

If they are going to tax on fuel consumption, a per gallon gas tax is the way to go. Oh, we already have that!! I don't think our state government has the nerve to try to increase that tax now.

I think this proposal is a direct attack on large motors and vehicles regardless of the actual fuel usage or carbon emissions. The government wants us all driving small cars or riding buses. That would be ok if we didn't tow boats, haul building materials, live in rural areas, commute to work, etc.

If this proposal ever gets to be law, look for a tax on other engines too.

I believe that I have solved the taxation problem.......I'm just gonna direct deposit my paycheck to Washington State and the IRS. :crook

Not only was this a tax on life style it was a direct insult to all the votes of washington that have voted down car tabs , what? three times now. When are they going to get the hint. We do not want to pay more on car tabs so they can waste it on bike paths. do not beleive that the bill is dead. they are not dead until march 15th. until then they can be voted on. I learned this because of the ammo bill that also did not get voted on.
