I'm just starting my search, I ran into posts from Gaye and Robert on the you tubes and the whole C-dory concept sounds amassing! I don't need a loud fast boat, not looking to impress anyone. I like the idea of cursing slow and enjoying the scenery and ride with some occasional fishing and crabbing, with the protection of cabin, while having the ability to move a little faster when desired. I also like the low maintenance and cost of operation they seem to offer, not to mention the shallow draft... I mean they check all the boxes, Maximum utility and low cost of operation, Not the typical "hole in the water where you put your money" that you hear about.
I'm not set on a specific model, but it's somewhere between a 22 cruiser and a 23 venture.
There is a beautiful 26 venture up right now with 26 Hrs for about 168K not at all in my price range but if it were, the separate head / shower would be really sweet, but I also wonder what you give up by going with a bigger boat like that... besides the obvious $$$.
I first hit on an R21, OMG, if I was going for looks that would be it! but unfortunately it's too limited for what I think I want..

Gaye and Robert, have the 22 C-Dory, "Brazzo". They use to live behind me and it was their boat that got me interested in the C-Dory. They are now world travelers. They still have Brazzo, and will occasionally unwrap it and hit the water some where here in the states.

ColbyWelcome to the site! I have a tomcat and keep it on the trailer at my home in Battle Ground. We had it on the Columbia in a marina slip the first few years and day-tripped all around the area for around 25 miles. Put it on the trailer to take it elsewhere. So far only to Yale and Merwin lakes for fishing and splash and giggle. Plans for the San Juan's and further...
I met with Clay and his wonderful family a few weekends ago on Merwin so they could get a look at the tomcat.

I'm realizing that there is a whole world out there that we don't see by just driving on asphalt... so cool!
There are so many things to consider, style, size, age, construction, motors etc... I'm wondering if a 23 venture / sport are in the sweet spot, the most you can get in a smaller more manageable package, but not having even been in one I don't know if the difference between that and a 22 cruiser would even be appreciable... of course a 26 venture would be the roomiest, with separate head and all, (Luxury!) but it might loose some of the ease of handling while trailering, launching, easing up to a shallow shoreline etc. and Tomcat? there's something I know nothing about...Then there is also reality,(the price) and that sends me back to the 22/23 range...
there are sole old boats out there that would be easy enough to get ($) to get started,but I really worry about rot and damage that I might not be able to see
and I'm not looking for a serious project. simply don't have the time for that. I need something I can enjoy "now" without worrying about safety and loosing all value. I hope to find something by spring, maybe this winter the right one will show itself for sale at a good price.

The 22 is a great boat and easy to handle. But it is most comfortable with 2 people onboard. We almost always have a minimum of 4 and it is really crowded on longer trips. This is why I reached out to Pat. Thanks again, Pat, for taking us out on C-Otter!
The 23 is similar to the 22, but it is wider and rides a little better in chop, I’ve heard. The aisle in the 22 is narrow and it’s hard to get past someone standing at the galley. Also, there isn’t a lot of seating. With four or more people, we put the dinette down into a couch, but everybody is then sitting on one side of the boat except the driver.
I can show you what to look for if shopping for a 22. What areas are cored, etc…
