Welcome to the C-Brats!

OK, then - what will the name of the boat be? What trim color (so we will know when we see her)? We took our CD22 Daydream out on Lake Sammamish in February 2003 - the lake is a little small for a C-Dory, and in the summer, dodging all the jackasses in the go-fast boats will be a challenge! Lake Washington (launch at Mercer Island under the East Channel Bridge) might be a better choice! Anyway, welcome aboard, and keep us posted!

Hi everyone, I have been reading in the forums and looking at all the pics of this site since my father told me he was thinking of trading in his tiderunner for a C-Dory. Its an awsome thing you all have here. I have been telling my father alot of what I read and see from here and it really helped I think in making his decision to do it. He got the 22' cruiser with twin 40 suzukies. The boat was picked up by us on 09/01/06 in Auburn and we took her home to my dads house in Maple Valley, Wa. We have been getting all his gear and electronics rigged and hope to launch a maiden in lake samamish this Friday. Now he just needs to get off dial up so he can enjoy your site and get to know all of you. Well I'll will let you all know and its nice to be a part. Oh Yeah, We love the boat.

Thanks for that info Pat but my father loves lake sammamish and thats where he wanted the maiden voyage to be. Sorry for the delay in getting back as we have been very busy getting the boat ready. We ended up going sunday sept. 17th and it was a great trip. Broke the boat in on about a 25# king that took my rod down and now I got rights to the first fish for the boat... :) Now back to the boat, I think they finally decided on Classy "C" Girl and the trim color is cabernet. My father and I are going to Sekiu this Friday for the weekend and still got alot going on in the boat. I tend to get my father and his wife up to speed on this site as soon as I got some time to spend with them while they can be online as they are on dial up and live in Maple Valley and I am in Federal Way. My fathers name is Don his wifes name is Patsy and they are very happy they bought a C-Dory about right now. My name is Clarence, my handle mainly was created when I needed a name for myself years ago for an online computer game that I played for a while (Counter-Strike) and it is my user name on alot of sites I need to register on to compete in leagues. When I registered here I was just looking I didnt think I would ever be posting and really didn't realize that my name here might alarm some people so sorry for that, I can change it if need be. lol it does fit me rather well though...Bullriding to heavy metal music is equal to me as catching a king on a C-Dory. lol Hope that cured your curiosity oldgrowth. I do fish all the time here in the puget sound area mainly area 11 around redondo. I see a C-dory now and then but have yet to see a name to look up or get close enough to say hi. My boat is a 1960 evinrude, blue with a 2001 honda 30 horse. So maybe I'll see some of you in Sekiu this weekend. I also have alot of pics of the boat so once all settles down I will get them up for you all. wOOt wOOt and my fish... :P

OK, then, Clarence! No need to change your user name by me...Tell Don and Patsy they ought to think about getting over to Sequim at the end of this month for the CBGT, and to bring you along!

So I'm trying to find out how to post to this system but I'm unable to get "closure" on the process. If this generates some kind of "post" will someoe answer and give me hand.

satanscowboy – do not change your name on my account. I was just curious so I asked. You have to be who you are, so do not change because you perceive someone may be offended by your handle. On this site there is only one rule and it is on the home page every time you enter the site. That is “No Rules - Just be nice!”. I think that is why the site is so popular and after you spend some time reading the different post, you will get to know many of the members and find this site very entertaining and informative at the same time. You can not find a better close nit group of people than you will here.

Please come to the Sequim CBGT. You don’t need a boat.

looks like you got it figured out Tom. Welcome to the pub, a few more posts and before you know it , you'll be passing Pat :)

Welcome Tom. Next step is to figure out how to do this..

Soon to be a C-Dory owner! I have spent hours and hours over the last three months reading posts on this site. I'm amazed at what I've learned and I've just barely scratched the surface! I bought our boat from Duncan Marine in Idaho and it'll be done in week or so. Problem is I live in Cleveland. The best delivery quote they've gotten so far is $4000! I have already spent about 20K more than I thought I'd have to, and I still have to pay Ohio sales tax yet. From everything I've read I know I won't regret it - but I'd rather have radar than pay twice what I thought freight would cost. Any creative ideas from this resourceful group on a cheaper delivery method?
jmess (no boat name yet....)

The Tom Cat to Apalachacola FL (about 2300 miles from the factory was #2500)--I believe that was with two boats sharing a truck/trailer. I suspect if you can find another boat going close to where you live, it would cut the cost by half. I would guess that Ohio is about 2000 miles from the factory--so you are paying about $2 a mile. This is fairly typical for boat delivary today.

Welcome aboard!

iam anew member, and i just bought a 22ft crusier. looking forward to meeting all of you and going fishing and cruising and having lots of good times, ihave been doing lots of fishing with moldy, and had my first tuna trip this summer

JOHN

welcome John. We look forward to meeting you and seeing your boat. Head up north sometime, there's lots of C-Dorys to float around with.

Well, John is the one that is getting our boat. And by the sound of things, the boat will be seeing some fish aboard in the near future! I guess someone had to break her in...

Hope you will enjoy the boat, John. And I am glad to see that you are now able to get online so you can spend those rainy days here at this site.

Hello all,

I'm a sailor looking at a C-Dory as my next boat. I've been reading the forum for a few months and have finally made my first post.

I checked out a C-Dory 22 Cruiser last Thursday at the Miami Boat Show. I got to take her out for a nice test drive: probable about 40 minutes. Overall I was impressed with the boat. Some things will take some getting used to. Being a sailor I felt a little closed in when I was at the helm. Visibility on the front and sides is good but I had trouble seeing aft before I made a turn. The test drive was in very congested waters outside the marina so taking a quick look around before changing directions was essential. Also spray on the front windows cut down on visibility but I suppose some Rainex might help. The windshield wipers just smeared the salt water. All together the boat meets so many of my requirements that it really is a no-brainer. I’m looking for a power boat to cruise the inter-coastal, the Keys, and the Bahamas that is easy on the gas. I’m thinking about a C-Dory 22 but I like the open back of the 19 since I will use the boat mostly in Florida. One of the factory rep's named Bruce told me that C-Dory is adding a 22 Angler with an open back to their fleet starting this year. That might be a possibility but I would rather find a used boat.

Anyway, this is a great website and a great bunch of enthusiastic owners. I've learned a lot from reading the posts and it has helped me decide to get a C-Dory. I’m looking forward to the transition from wanabee to newbee.

Welcome, hope you find what you are looking for! The CD22 without the aft bulkhead has actually existed for a few years, I forget what it was called - maybe somebody else will remember. It does not seem to be on the C-Dory web site, but it was on display at the Seattle Boat Show a year or two ago. Maybe the CD22 Sport or something like that? Here in the Pacific Northwest, it really did not seem to make a lot of sense, maybe for day fishing but not for cruising in our cool wet climate...
