What can the 16ft C-Dory handle?

I have a 16 Angler in the San Juan's and have been out in rough weather (places I should not have been). Going slow and being mindful of waves, etc. I would trust the boat in most conditions, however, offshore in large waves .. not so much. As mentioned, getting turned sideways to a wave would roll one of these puppies pretty easily.
I also have a 36' sailboat and been in snotty stuff in that as well. Believe me a keel makes a tremendous confidence builder (not to mentioned the added propulsion from rags hanging from sticks).

I had a 16 Cruiser back in the mid to late 90's in Alaska. It was my go to boat for fishing the Salmon Derby for 8 straight days in Seward, Resurrection Bay. Most days just me, solo fishing, usually all day, 10- 12hours avg. Calm in the morning, varying degrees of chop to small boat advisory by late afternoon.

Resurrection Bay is roughly 3mi x 20mi and can get rough, but the 16 is a perfect boat for single handling lakes or bays, where you can duck in within several mins if you have to.

Although I have ventured offshore maybe 8-10 miles out of Homer for halibut and lincod, good conditions, 20+ miles... probably not. I could tell of a few hairy storms (twice a friend talked me into), and we always made it back, but I can also tell you the 16 is a spirited handful in 3-5fter's breaking sideways when you're trying to get back in and you have little choice but to bang it through.

I would go as far as saying Resurrection Bay can be quite frightening - even in my CD 22.
