Diana and I agree with the original post, and with Russ and Toni! Retiring was the best decision (other than getting married) that either of us has made.

Marty, I saw that posting just now as well on the camera thread, and I well remember the postive attitude that Caty displayed. She taught us a lot when she said....."Ahem....life's too short, guys". We just need to remember her words more often.
 
Being so close we can actually taste it, I like few things better about this place than reading about fellow Brats who have pulled the plug from the daily grind.

I used to love where I work - but due to a number of changes over the last few years that I won't whine about here, it's been more like this lately:

Two keys to being able to do it, along w/ a house that is paid off and an affordable cost of living in your geographic area. One of the reasons I left Hawai'i was I knew I could never afford to live there and retire. The cost of living here was less, but now w/ ever increasing property taxes I'm in doubt about WA. State too.

Oh, well. I have ten more years at the Sheriff's Office before I have to worry about it...where's that wire "U" shaped device? :lol:
