what is my 27 worth

The cut water 24 with outboard is included in the price, talked to Jeff, of 99k. A trailer is not. with the out board you do get alittle more deck space and storage space where the i/o would have been but as bob knows not as much as I have now. The 24 has the head forward and with a shower and hot water. I have yet to install a shower on mine but I am always thinking about it.

We are going to keep the boat, unless some one offers me a lot for it, hint hint. So we are talking about what to change and how and when. For now I believe that we will be painting the inside a much lighter color in the near future as wellas changing the blue fabric out for some thing else, but will leave the interior rebuild for next winter.

Tom, you have a great boat for how you and Susan like to boat. Using your boat as you do, fishing as hard and often with as many people as you do, it would not take long for a new vessel to take on some of the same character as your current 27 shows. I am not sure new would be any better in your case. You know the boat. You know her feel and how she handles. Your "stuff" is already in place. I'd think before you possibly fix something that is not broke and spend a sizeable amount of money...that you can use for slip fees rather than hauling the boat around during the runs. I thought your boat operated very economically the times we have been out on it. If you will think back a few years to the 2006 time frame, I could not find a larger C-Dory when I was coming out of the TC24. I simply could not get Jeff and his crew to commit to build me a larger cockpit 25 which is why I went to Canada for the RF-246.

Your boat has both the larger cabin and large cockpit. Your electronics are great on your boat. Are they the last generation...no...but, if you bought them today...in 18 months or less than two fishing seasons...there is going to be other gee-wiz stuff out there. Again, you know your electronics and even if you stay with the same brand...each model change does things differently. Kinda nice to know and push the correct 2-3 buttons in order to get the info you want. Being kind of close just does not get you there. You could buy an entire new package system for less than you would pay in sales tax on the purchase of a new boat.

Just some follow on thoughts. And.. I just wanted to pull your chain a bit. I just enjoyed one of the pieces of salmon the other night that we got on our last trip out. Kinda fun to break that stuff out here in TN and talk about the catch. Cheers man. Give Miss Susan a hug.

Here's a formula that has been fairly close to real world sales price of motorized
cars, boats, trucks and tractors I've had and then sold.

First off, all should be in working order. Next, everything should be clean and
appear as having had "normal" wear and tear. If not, fix it or state openly what
is wrong, faulty or broken. Take the cost to repair/replace same off your asking price*.
If you had a major repair, rebuild or engine replaced, use that date as your start date.
Then make a disclaimer statement such as sold in "as is condition".

To approximate asking price*, total original sales price of everything you are
releasing with the boat. If you had a major rebuild (etc as above), do not include
these costs, just use the original cost. From this total, subtract 25% for the first
year, then subtract 5 - 6% from that for every year after that, and so on, until now.

If your boat is "old", you may be better off financially to donate it to
www.boatangel.org or similar and take the tax write off.

Aye.

yeah.... don't think i will donating a boat with a 25k in motors, 10 k in custom bracket, 5k in canvas, etc.. Not sure how old equal junk???? So back to our regular programing

Pat . did you leave a life vest on board?? I seem to have picked up one.

Why yes Tom Thanks You. Black harness type. I have just about taken the carpets out of my passat & excursion and through out ALOYSIUS & SENSEI. Actually,...I borrowed it from Roger. I guess I could get Jerimia to swing by the house and pick it up on the way to work one afternoon...maybe?

Don't wait trying to decide what to do too long.

I could have said (above), if you are "old" and your boat out lives you, your
heirs may end up dealing with it (without the emotional attachment) and
get only a few cents on the dollar you originally spent plus the headaches.

Aye.

the kid will not get the boat , I am going out viking style bbq. :beer
I hope that if and when that happens it will be an intentional celebration of life and not the result of a mis-fired flare or propane accident.

A 26-30 foot Duckworth (for example) runs 100-150K

I like my 22 Hewescraft Pacific Cruiser, and it has ALITTLE more room than a CD22-cruiser, but cost twice as much.

I think serious fishermen think in terms of "glass" or "aluminum" and I doubt theres a nicer glass 27 made than yours (even today)

If I had your boat, nothing short of a Viking burial would part me with it.

So to answer your question: priceless, or at least unreplaceable.

After visiting the Seattle boat show and experiencing some "sticker shock", it seems like your 27' C-Dory would be a bargain at 60K, IMHO.

There was a 27 for sale in AK recently, I think about $38k. It had no head, and a 175 suzi 4 stroke on a bracket. Looked like decent shape. Did these have a plywood or balsa core?

I've seen a couple of these come up for sale in the last year both in the same ballpark for price. Both okay, with good running gear (the other was an diesel i/o) both in need of some work.

IMO, the 27 is the best bargain in the CDory market. I'd go for one of these pretty quickly. I've never seen a really good example of the 27 with any size house, so Tom, if you sell yours you may be establishing a market price for us. I guess we should be asking you what your boat is worth!

There was a CD 27 charter boat in Seward that started at 50k in late summer, lowered to 45k in fall, and then 40k. It then was removed off CL so I assume it sold. It was a very nicely kept boat - not as nice as yours though. I am a very poor judge of boat values.....I always buy high and sell low when it comes to cars, trucks, motorhomes, and boats.....LOL.....
