Where to stay and what to do in Kechikan, Alaska?

I will be headed to Ketchikan via float plane from a remote fish camp on Dall Island on or about the 17th of June.
I am on a very tight budget and would like tips and hints on things to do and where to stay on a budget.
I haven't purchased my return flight home yet (should I?) and would like to have some structure to work with.
I will only be carrying 1 bag with me as this is what I have been limited to bringing. Something about having room for all my fish :wink: .

I would sure enjoy having a few :beer and maybe a :cigar with my brothers up North.

How bout it?
 
Hey Ray, sorry we missed ya there. Check out the totem parks, there pretty cool. Other that that I have not done much there cept troll a bit.
Gotta go now, there closing the library now :|
