Which Boat? The Envelope Please!

Tyboo Mike

Do a Google search with robert stuberg in quotation marks like this

“robert stuberg”

Don’t put anything else in the search string and see how many hits you come up with. It will be around 1000 and most will be of the Robert Stuberg at the [Link disabled] address. Of all the references to Robert Stuberg, none have a Muskegon, MI address.

If you visit some of the sites that Google finds it would appear he is somewhat successful.

“Tom said the man is not a liar”

Tom can be fooled just like the rest of us. However if you look at stupidberg’s post, you will see that he never says he is the Robert Stuberg of [Link disabled] but he leads you believe he is by his statements. He has been playing with all of us for some time and Joe/Sea Wolf has him pegged right.

So again I ask, why would a successful business person waste his time playing games on this site, to see how open minded we are?

I have a saying for people that say I should have an open mind.

It is;

If your mind is too open, your brains will fall out. :moon

Dave

Well I doubt that this is the real Robert Stuberg because nobody could be that incredibly stupid.

What is sad to me is initially mr. Stuberg's posts seemed genuine in regards to making a boat buying decision. But as soon as he supposedely purchased something other than a C-dory it appears that HE decided that this site was going to be no longer useful to him and started yanking people's chains.

Now not only has he come clean about his intentions but he now shows no respect for the people that stuck up for him in this thread and called him a "good guy". Well Mr. Stuberg :moon

Will the real Robert Stuberg please stand up?

Well, I must stay again that DaveS wins the prize. If you email me Dave, I’ll have the office send you a FREE program. It’s [email link removed].

Unfortunately, Dave (outgrowth) gets the booby prize. Did you really mean to say this:

Come on you people. Don’t fall for this. I don’t believe for one second that a successful business person would waste his time playing games on this site to see how open minded we are. He (stupidberg) is still playing games with you.

If you don’t believe me, then send an email to the real Robert Stueberg with a link to this forum and ask if he is the same person. His email address is [email link removed].

You make it sound as if a successful business person would not be interested in C-Dory boats. I know for a fact that there all sorts of successful business people on this site. I've met some of them. As to the boat, I’ve cruised (with a professional captain, of course) throughout Europe on boats as big as a 150 yacht and many of my friends own the biggest monstrosities you’ve ever seen. I kid them constantly about using up our valuable natural resources rather than getting a boat that is much more practical. I’m not into to showing off. And if I were, I’d still get the boat I’m getting because it’s cool. I’ve never even seen one of these kind of boats around where I live on the Great Lakes and when I show people the boat they say: “That’s a neat looking boat.” Of course, I'd get it even if they said it was ugly.

I love the C-Dory boats. They are without a doubt the coolest boats I’ve seen based on their size. My wife and son Carleton don’t need anything bigger than a 22 to 25 foot boat. Besides, I also wanted a boat where I could use my favorite brand of engine, Honda. When I saw the C-Dory site and I saw that they were equipping boats with Hondas, I thought it would be a perfect fit.

In all honesty, the hardest thing for me was not buying a C-Dory boat. John at Y-Landing is a real pro and Jeff Mesmer from C-Dory is a top class guy as well. I also enjoyed meeting Jeff's top sales guy Scott Matthews who did a marvelous job of explaining the various kinds of hulls to me. But after I met the Cape Cruiser gang and saw their boat, I feel in love. They are really nice people as are the C-Dory people. I simply liked the ride and feel of the boat a bit better than the C-Dory. No big deal really. What I’ve said in this thread is what I experienced.

I just thought it was interesting to see the various threads on this site with the whole CD versus CC controversy and I couldn’t help but see what would happen when a little diversity hit the site. I’m glad I was the first CC person to come out of the closet. Dang, some of you beat me up big time. I really am a nice guy. Just ask people that really know me.

Lastly, I am sorry if I offended anyone. I really was just having fun and seeing how people would respond. It is my business after all.

So now it’s back to business. I hope you folks don’t mind if I use this story in an upcoming book or program. I promise the names will be changed to protect the innocent.

:-)

Oh yes, and everyone that sent me a nice private message like the courageous starcraftom is also welcome to a FREE program if interested. Just send an email to me at [email link removed]. You have to admit that starcraftom really went out of a limb for me.

Thanks everyone and happy boating. You’ve got the coolest boats on the planet in my opinion. Well, to be truly honest I do like tug boats as well. Have you seen the new Nordic Tug 32? That’s a cool boat as well but I think I’ll start smaller and work up to that if the spirit so moves me. I really should learn a few things about boating before driving something around where I could be really dangerous. Something small and comfy will be just fine for my little family, and I’ll even attend a boating class so the Coast Guard won’t have to pull me over!

:-)

All the best to each of you!

OK, Bill. This guy is over his advertising quota. Do the nerd stuff with the IP if you would, please. But by all means, leave the thread intact.

Well, since we're all making final comments, might as well throw mine in too.

First off, though a few of us spotted the troll early, Seawolf encapsulated "Stuberg" (SB) best in his message expanding on the typical internet troll. That SB is intelligent goes without saying. That he's the "Robert Stuberg" of stuberg.com is an assumption I'm not yet willing to make and , in fact, seriously doubt.

Spouse and I have been students of the mind-body-spirit connection for over 35 years and folks who come even close to a real understanding of the principles involved know that creating such a "test"
You win the prize. This thread has nothing to do with boating. It was designed to see how open minded this group is on controversial topics.
is more damaging to the creator than those who are taken in by it. Anyone, even a "snakeoil" evangelist of "new age principles" knows to not foul his own nest.

At some point early in the thread I noticed "Stuberg" had not posted on the Sea Dog site, yet he obviously knew about it and the personalities involved. I briefly wondered if it could be a case of revenge, as in the old saw "revenge is best served cold." Directed more at trying to prove that any administrator is vulnerable and can be manipulated into making a comment or act he/she will regret. As a member of both sites, I just don't want to believe that scenario, though in part it may well have been yet another attempt to foment ill will between two good sites. I don't think that goal, if it was a goal, was successful.

I will say that IMHO this "attack" was well planned and carefully thought out. I think SB knows the participants, the forum, the boats and even many of the personalities. Some of you may already have shaken his hand. I'll pass on that. It was and is a tribute to the administrators who refused to edit messages or ban participants. They stuck by their principles from beginning to now and likely to the end (whenever that gratefully ever happens!) Most any other forum out there would have simply deleted the thread, banned the participant and waited/watched for further pseudonym attempts.

Thankfully, the only loser in this whole game is SB and even he wouldn't admit to it. Overall, I think we all learned something about the individuals who make up C-Brats, and as Martha would say, "That's a good thing."

Well I'm glad that we could assist you in your little "science" project. You truly do fulfill the TROLL role to a T. Good Job!

Done.

The Stuberg account is on the ban list. Don't expect any more posts from it.

Additionally, Robert Stuberg performed all of his access to this site from one Comcast IP address - that address has been banned by the board software as well, so he can't even access this site anonymously from there.

We don't have the capability to prevent Mr. Stuberg from accessing the site from another IP address, or registering new accounts from another IP address. A determined troll will always find a way in. Let's just hope he's not that dedicated, and moves on to his next science experiment.

One final note: It would be nice if another Cape Cruiser owner picked up the torch here. While I'm still of the opinion another user group is the best solution long-term, until/unless there are a sufficient number of owners, I'm sure they'll be discussed here quite a bit.

I don't want there to be any suggestion this unfortunate action has anything to do with Cape Cruiser. I'm certain they'll have customers who can participate here in a manner more acceptable to the community than Mr. Stuberg exhibited.

Sorry, folks - we made it over two years without me having to resort to this:

Just another self-promoting huckster predator in my opinion. Been going on since the first human discovered speaking from a stump would somehow elevate their words and make them seem wise . . .

[Link disabled]

When he decides to run for office -- point the press to this thread and people can make their own assesment.

Back to boats . . .

One other comment. We have in fact banned spammers before, but never publically. This one was done in the daylight because it will surely be challenged by a few who may think it goes against our oft touted policy of tolerance. The difference between this and that which we despise is that this type of thing harms the forum members far more than the forum. The reasons deserve to be known.

There is little doubt that this stuberg and the .com stuberg are the same. If you wish to strike out at Mr. Stuberg, please do not do it here. If you must, I would suggest finding an online seller of his wares that has a review feature, and posting your impressions there. Better yet, just let it go because it really isn't worth it.

I doubt that Mr. Stuberg will attempt to return with another name. He has had his fun, and he is in his mind just a little bit better than the rest of us anyway, so he will move on. Refreshing, isn't it?

Mike & Bill

Fred just made me read this whole thread, thinking I'd be interested as I work on the Web (I'm not going to advertise where!). It takes a lot to make me sit still for 8 pages, but boy, was it worth it for the education.

I have to say that there are some of the best people and best writers around on this site and I'm more proud than ever to know you all.

I didn't think I could be shocked by human behavior anymore, but have to confess this was too weird and kind of sick for words. Mike and Bill, you guys are eloquent, patient, and earn every penny.

With boundless respect and gratitude, Robbin :love

Since we're all having a final say on this subject, I wanted to explain my comments. I smelled a rat, but just in case my comments were misinterpreted, I didn't really think that Mr. S was a Toland brother-in-law or paid by Jeff. It was my feeble attempt at humor in what I saw as an overheated situation.

In my business I see some version of Mr. S on a regular basis. Inventors, consultants, motivational program hucksters and other snake oil salesmen. Some of them are a lot smarter than me and I still occasionally get fooled by them. They can be very successful and convincing and still not have your best interests in mind. "Just be nice" and "we don't ban people" actually attract their attention. They are very good at using your good intentions and openness to their advantage.

Mike and Bill, I want to commend you for your tolerant attitude under attack. I'm not wise enough to understand why, but if you try to do the right thing sooner or later you are going to come under attack. It's truly amazing to me that your policy has worked so well for so long without more of this kind of problem.

I appreciate your hard work and good attitudes. I'm ready to get back to discussing C-Dorys.

Tyboo Mike;

I still have a hard time believing that Robert Stuberg and stupidberg are the same. I would hate to see retaliation against Robert Stuberg without being 100% sure.

Stupidberg said,

Jeff Mesmer from C-Dory is a top class guy as well. I also enjoyed meeting Jeff's top sales guy Scott Matthews”

If that is true, then have Jeff Mesmer or Scott Matthews go to [link disabled], look at the picture of Robert Stuberg and let us know if they are the same person. If they are not the same, we should do nothing. If they are the same, then each person can decide what if any action they want to take.

Damn, I was just getting interested in this stupid soap opera, what next, they pull the plug on Genital Hospital?

Oh, in the early days of the Pub, I was threatened with being banned about every month, usually kuz of my spelling or talk of vacum packing small white dogs :)

Dear Mike and Bill,
I admire the restraint and patience you exhibited throughout this thread. I don't think the devisive issue was Mr. Stuberg's selection of a boat as much as it was his boorish behavior on this site. I, for one am glad you "pulled the plug" on Mr. Stuberg and his inept social skills. Being nice does not mean being a doormat to a windbag that appears to match the definition of a troll. Thanks again for being great administrators of this site.
Best Regrads, Leo.

P.S. I think TROLL would be a good name for Mr. Stuberg's new boat!

Mike and Bill, time for me to break silence. Thanks guys, for your deft and thoughtful handling of an onerous and unfortunate situation. This group is incredibly fortunate to have two really cool dudes such as you at the helm.

Go C-Brats!

Mike, Bill, and All-

Nice quiet peace today in the C-Brat Nation! Glad we stuck together the way we did on this one. Our unity is stronger than ever. Having repelled the invader, we'll be more comfortable in protecting ourselves if it ever happens again! Good Job, All! Joe.

I say it kindly folks; the administrators DO NOT speak for us all. If there was a "threat" the defect is in the one threatened, and not always one "threatening" We have always the free will to stop reading.

I don't believe we "child proof" (no pun meant by that here) the entire world. It lies in us to get wise, and get-on to better things. If we should discover a "threat" that can be good. It prods us to grow.

Keepin it short and sweet. thats all!

poof out :bat

Holy cow! I don't check in on the site for a couple days and look what I miss!

The Otter has been lonely and bored for the last few weeks. She tells me she'd better get her bottom wet tomorrow or else.

Hope all is well out there in C-Brat land. I sure do appreciate (again) the work and wisdom of Bill and Mike.

Best regards,
