Which Boat? The Envelope Please!

If ya only hang with peep that are just like you, what growth is that. To me that’s human nature… to just stay in your own little world and ward-off new challenges.

You've just proven my point...

Prior to meeting many folks here, I did tend to hang out with very like-minded individuals. Folks here are "just like me" only in the sense that we've chosen the same inanimate object to enjoy our spare time on - hardly a measure of what makes a person who they are. The C-Brats I've met have incredibly diverse backgrounds, opinions and lifestyles.

Brock is a perfect case in point. He and I are on pretty opposite ends of many issues, apparently including this one. Prior to gettting involved in the C-Brats, I can confidently say he would not have been somebody I would have been drawn towards. Now, I consider him a good friend, and have re-examined many thoughts I've had through the years based on great conversations we've had.

As far as all the praise to the “admin” some should not disregard the fact that participating is the real reason this site is so great, and keeps going. Let’s hope some stop there name calling though, or I will be gone, as in a permanent “POOF”

Participation in this site is increasing, not decreasing. I do agree, though - the actions of some who resort to public name calling, with respect to Stuberg, is pretty immature. It's a practice I'd prefer to see stop, but we can't do anything more than that without being labled "censors". As with the Stuberg situation, we're damned if we do, damned if we don't.

Change is inevitable though, times I feel this site is may be getting “a little too big for its britches”.

Personally, I don't see that happening. While it's easier to get lost in the crowd now, I still come here for fun and friendship, and none of that has changed.

Regardless...here's to hoping you stick around, continue to speak your mind, and share you great adventures with us. The place wouldn't be the same without ya'... :cigar

Tyboo, that would be cool. Redfox, I'll hear no more talk from you about a permanent poof. Unless you're talkin' a wet head of hair, or somethin'.

Da Nag, I like how you disagreed with me. That was classy. Just as I was about to throw chairs and burst some brain vessels, you complimented me. Hey, that's my trick!

But Bill, just as we're political opposites and disagree about certain stuff, we treat each other with kindness and respect. That's yet another reason I like you. And we're rewarded with a long-lasting and meaningful friendship.

What about me? You still like me don't you? I'll tell you what. You seen that big bridge in Astoria? I was going to sell it because I need the money, but I will give it to you. All you have to do is come down to visit me, Kay and the kids again.

See you in Seattle. This time you owe me a beer. Plus the traditional ride to the SBS. And this time, I'm bringing Helen O Larry to back me up.

And a big thanks to whomever moved this thread to this forum. It certainly isn't about boats anymore.

Do you have any idea how difficult it has been for me to not crack jokes on here? That is my favorite means of converstation. So look out - I'm back.

Or crap - there are more??

It's getting fun now........I think I'll weigh in on some of the Avoid threads I've been avoiding.

"I am the C-Brat" in the C-Dory Nation...

That is for sure, RF. That C-Brat line is the only thing I ever stole from you, and I wear it proudly.

Don't worry about my feelers - me and you have been kicked out of too many places together. If we didn't invent getting banned, we certainly perfected it. Took old Nerdy almost a year to do what we did in five minutes. He might be good with that electronical stuff, but his smart-aleck skills suck.

I think CM is angry with me, though. Why can't he be more like you and Bill when I shoot my mouth off?

Just wait until them green guys get their super powers. There will be no more of this nonsense. Did anyone ever tell you how he got the nickname "Sawdust"?

This is my first post on this thread; possibly my last. I came over here because I had faith in a grizzly old fart from Warrenton and I see nothing to change that.

I concur with Oldgrowth's assessment, that is, forget the whole thing and we will eliminate the thread ourselves by ignoring the stupid (pardon the pun; it was on purpose) thing!

Now, for important stuff: Oldgrowth, how did you get that signature? Send me a PM.

WOW! Twelve pages of... (I don't know what, but I read every post).

This thread really got me scared... and I can't even put a finger on why!.. so don't ask.

I am really new at this site. I have made a few posts, not many. I joined shortly after acquiring my CD22.

Here's my thought... and it will have to stand for itself cuz I can't explain it:

There are a number of members who do not yet own CD's. If I had had the foresight to join this site before acquiring my CD, how would this thread have affected my decision.

Don't get me wrong, I love my CD. But this thread shook me up real well. It is difficult to point out why but probably has something to do with my personality. I have the inate ability to make new acquantances hate me within 15 minutes of meeting me. But I know that given time, as oppossed to going to immediate war, I also grow on people. My downfall is that it always takes time. You guys are a scarry lot because of your vast knowledge in a subject that I know comparatively nothing about.

I was bothered that people will publically announce that they run a site but you can't be a member unless this or that. If this is the case keep the announcement private.

I was bothered that there are so many who can truly love their CD (an inanamate object) and then proceed to hate another member of the human race. I have always told my children to hate things people do, but never hate the people themselves.

I was bothered that it is felt necessary to say someone has to be figured out and dealt with as if it were something rare and special. Do we not all make some effort to figure out and deal properly with everyone we come in contact with on a day-to-day basis? To pinpoint one person with this comment is petty and ridiculous.

I was bothered that many of you have taught me so much in so short a time and yet in this thread I feel the need to take special measures to NOT learn so as to not deposit ill thoughts into my brain bank.

TyBoo asked if the thread should be locked or deleted... I think not, but at the very same time I wish I had not read it!

Ken and Flapbreaker, I like your posts. Ken, it took less than 15 minutes for me to form an opinion about you. And it was positive!

Well, there you have it. We've hugged, we've kissed, we've made up, and now everything's cool again. Let's order another round. And then for old times' sake, let's start throwing punches again.

P.S. Taboo, though I'm a wounded victim of your meanness and vitriol, I like you.

Flapbreaker, I think you're right. Just tonight I looked at some frisky pictures and went, like, boooring...

Stuberg's stopped talking and I've popped in a Randy Travis CD. The latter doesn't challenge me as much, puts me in a relaxing mood, and in one lamentable song justifies extramarital whoopee. I also like Willie Nelson. But like stardust, who wouldn't?

Driving home tonight I wondered why I'm keeping this thread alive. I think I thought there's a couple reasons. Dammit, right now I only remember one. It's this: I don't want to talk about boats. Not very much, anyway. I own a sixteen-footer built just after the Big Bang. I can't relate to tank talk, automatic pilot, singles or twins, wait, yes, I can; well, and all the other 22-stuff, too.

But I can relate to you.

Ah shucks, Catguy. I was just kidding. You can call me anything you want on here. But if it's TyBoo, don't forget to capitalize the B.

Man, I found a very interesting quip elsewhere on the WWW concerning this discussion. Maybe I'll get hold of the guy and ask if I can post it anonymously.

B#!*C, you better stop that classic funny stuff you do. I mean it. Yes, it's going to be a long winter, and you're going to love it. Besides, I might have constructed one of those head-scratchers at work.

TyBoo, Dangit, I don't think I've ever spelled you correctly. Bad form. And quite an oversight. I'll change that right now. Say, what's with this extra-opinion thing where aliens may be monitoring our signal?
