While on a rant

Hi all - this is the time of year when some of us look at our past year's giving and check to see if we have missed someone or an organization that deserves our support. We we have a "Tip Jar" DONATION button on our front page. I have no idea why TyBoo needs bait, but what is $10.00 between friends? Consider using PayPal and drop a few in the old jar - this site does not run itself and there must be costs that are being covered. Thank you forum admin - great job as usual - I may even some day own a boat!

Good reminder--If every one gave $10, it would probably put the site in the black. Its a lot more than bait money to keep the site running.

Hi all - I belong to lots of organizations with fees or dues. I also counsel churches on finances. Intersting thing, often there is a financial struggle going on but the general membership was never told they need to step up a bit at the plate. If those who cover a short fall do so with joy, then I stay out of the fray but the first thing I suggest to groups that are a bit short on cash is just tell the good folks what the party costs per person, event or time period. Sometimes folks feel that $10 gives them the right to be hypercritical but most just give and are grateful for the opportunity to participate in that area of belonging. If I paid $1.00 per visit to this forum I would spend north of $750 a year. I log on once or twice almost every day, like seeing a good friend every day at the post office! Smooth seas anc cheap no ethanol gas to you all this season.

Indeed, no rant necessary. Thanks for the reminder. It's hard to put a price on this website. I consider it priceless. Thanks administrators and contributors!!! :thup :thup

Bait for Tyboo! :D

I've run a few forums and the hardest part was time. My moderators were like gold to me because it seemed like there was a constant attack from spammers. Forums felt like an extension of yourself, like family, and require about as much time. :beer

I just read this thread and then went immediately to Pay Pal to donate.

It allowed me to DONATE $5.00 only. I was prepared and planned on donating $35.00. Frankly, that would not be a big donation for such a good and useful website, but $5.00 seems to me to be woefully inadaquate.

I would suggest that the administrator revisit the donate button and adjust it so that donations in excess of $5.00 be allowed and maybe even encourraged.

You either didn't try hard enough... or your browser didn't show the little down arrow next to the $5.00 "Good Karma". If you see the arrow, you can go all the way down to $500 "Just Kidding".

Go to the home page, you can see the other options. On the left hand side, under some ads. If you try to do it directly from PayPal, any excess goes to Obamacare and Dusty's account.

We've given lots of times, at the office, on the water and here too!

Happy holidays.

Charlie

Xmas cheer sent! Thanks Mike and Bill for all the effort. I appreciate the work it takes to keep a great site going. George
