Who was the C-Brat at Beaufort NC in Taylors Creek this week

After a year of being lanlocked, I made it to Beaufort NC this past week. I rented a place that had a dock on Taylors Creek.
I saw what looked like a CD 22 beached enjoying the day at the Taylor Creek Inter coastal Re/Green marker on Carrot Island.
I was going to pull in but I was very limited on time because of my old dog waiting for me in the rental house.
Since my old dog is no longer able to weather any time on the boat, the only solution for me to finally get back on the water was to rent a place for her to stay while I was boating.
It limited me to about 3 hrs a day out in the ocean before I had to head back and take care of her.
I ate Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel every night, Cast netted for finger Mullet right off the dock before I went fishing.
I was thinking of selling my boat because it just sits in the driveway under the cover waiting to be used.
After this nice trip, I am going to hold onto it a little while longer.

Was it a 22 Angler or Cruiser you saw? I was all over that area Tuesday and Wednesday (10th and 11th) in my Angler fishing. I just got back home about an hour ago. And how did you manage to catch Spanish and Blues? I caught everything except Spanish and Blues, first time that's ever happened to me in the Beaufort Inlet area.

Thanks Larry I did have a great time. It was a long time in the making.

mgarr682, I caught the Spanish trolling a Clarkspoon leading with a Sea striker planer and about 100 yrds of line out. Trolling between 5.8 and 6 MPH.

The CD I saw beached on Carrot Island by the Taylor Creek marker was definitely a 22 cruiser.
I am not sure what day it was though. My whole time down there was so much like heaven it is all a blur.

I caught the Bluefish in various places. Started out on AR-315 about 4 miles from the inlet. I was using the large smelly frozen Sardines fishing 2 OZ weight on the bottom. Caught a lot of junk fish too.
I caught the other bigger Blues on Live Finger Mullet that I caught net casting off Carrot Island.
After I lost about 4 baits from sneaky Blues I started double hooking the bait to out smart those sneaky Blue fish.
The place I was staying had a tidal pond in the backyard and some very large Drum kept braking my line. You could see them charge the bait and the water would explode. Never landed one , they broke the line every time I hooked one.
I caught some Flounder in the tidal pond too.

Sounds like you will be planning another trip there, with a report like that. Sounds great, the idea of actually having a good fishing day ,catching bait,as they say it don't get any better than that.

Thanks for the info Lanlocked. We fished the turn basin, down the channel, the Navy ramp at Radio island, inside the inlet, outside the inlet, in the inlet, behind Shackleford Banks and the ocean from the inlet east to Cape Lookout. We didn't go west to the artificial reefs. We caught a lot of fish and a wide variety of fish but not a single blue or Spanish. I don't think I've ever fished that area without picking up at least a few blues and Spanish. We didn't catch anything really big but we did have three hookups that broke 3/0 hooks. I have no idea what that they were.

I saw Glenda Jean cruising thru statesville nc last week on I 40 eastbound ,guess you were heading to coast :smiled

Yep. Went through Statesville going down on Monday and coming back on Thursday. Beaufort Inlet is a long way from Asheville but it is still my favorite fishing area.
