Marty -- GREAT!

And by the way, guys, this live aboard a boat thing was El's idea -- so boating ain't exclusively a guy-thing!

I agree. But I bet you can't tell me that your boat isn't better looking when El is aboard.

Remember, that the early sailing ships had figureheads (a carved full length figure or bust of a lovely lady built into the bow of their vessels). I surmise that lovely ladies have always been in the forefront of a sailors mind. Further to quote the Boat Christening Ceremony that we perform at our C-Dory gatherings......

....."We have crafted vessels to carry us and we have called them by name. These ships will nurture and care for us through perilous seas, and so we affectionately call them "she". "

That being said, whether any picture in my album has a "live" woman on board my vessel or not, the viewer is always clicking on my woman when they view a picture of my C-Dory.

Certainly no objections from me for "checking" her out.

Have you ever noticed or wondered why the photo album hits are considerably higher if there is a woman in the photo.
No kidding, look for your self, this holds true in ALL of your albums.
Surely one of you smart fellers has some incite into this.
Mike

Hmmm? This is true!...I'm getting 1/3 the hits that Jo gets in our TN River album.
Maybe I should use more makeup?

I recently posted some pictures to our album from a trip we took in May. I just went and looked at the album and sure enough, the picture of First Mate Toby had about 4-5 times as many hits as most all of the other pictures. What worries me though, is that the picture I posted of me and my large girth pulling the Comfy Dory off of a sandbar when I missed the channel cut, got only 1 less hit than hers did!
Whats's up with that?

Hey Tad I just went to your album and clicked on your picture twice so you would pass Toby. Those are great shots of your trip. Good thing you visited Cumberland Island when you did they recently had a bad forest fire there on the north end of the island. I haven't seen the extent of the damage but surely the wildlife suffered.

Hi Marvin,

Thanks I think, but it still worries me that anyone would want to look at my picture more than Toby's. I still have some more pictures to post of Cumberland Is. and St. Mary's. There are quite a few of the beautiful oaks on the trail to the oceanside and others of the trip to post. I even have the one we took of you on the end of your dock. Apparently, I am not able to post photos that are larger than 2 megs as the ones are that I couldn't post (like you on the end of the dock ) I wrote a note to Tyboo Mike asking if there is some way to compress the photos so they can post or if he can alter our album to allow pictures larger than 2 megs, but I have not heard back from him yet. I am already challenged learning to post photos, so I am at a standstill right now.

Tad, there's a great program for compressing/resizing pics called "quick-e-pics"...I use it for batch resizing. It's a one time online purchase, 20 bucks I think. You can find it at missionpeak.com or missionpeaksoftware.com. You can set batch defaults for sizing, compression, and thumbnail creation, and finish a batch of 500 huge pics in minutes.

You didn't tell me you were gonna post such nice pictures.

I'm afraid to tell people the way I do some of this stuff sometimes because I'm not that good at it. I always go for the quickest means of doing stuff on the computer even if it's not the "best" way. If I want to compress a pic I just right-click, choose to email it, and send it to myself using the option to let Windows resize it.

OK - I'll go find your email and answer it.......

Marvin,

I finally was able to upload the picture we had of you on the end of your dock thanks to the help of Tyboo Mike. I also added some more pictures of the trip. You know, there are some really great people here in the C-Brats and I have enjoyed getting to know some of them if only through our posts for now. Hope to make it to a gathering one of these days. We should try and put together some kind of gathering for the Brats here on the East Coast of Florida. I think we have a growing number.

Tad I agree some great and helpful folks on this site. A new 21' Ranger passed by my dock just the other day and I met a couple in a Cape Cruiser a couple weeks ago who live locally. Captain Mac (Flounder boat) lives just north of me in Fernandina. I got a kick out of that picture. My daughter had just brought me home from the hospital and the first thing I did was walk out on the dock to check on the boat. I still had my pajamas on from the hospital. She wasn't impressed. The Saint Mary's River which you show in one of your pictures is a beautiful cruise only problem is there's a railroad bridge about a mile beyond the I-95 Bridge thats usually to low for a C-Dory to get under and requires 48 hour notice to open. St Mary's is much like the Swannee River. I look forward to seeing you and Toby again perhaps when I'm not in my PJ's.

Marvin,

We're going to make another loop for 8 days between Christmas and New Year's. We'll make sure to stop by and say hello and maybe hoist a brew. I could make that trip a 100 times and not get tired of it. The St. John's always has something new to offer. We have a long history on that River. My great grandfather immigrated to Merritt Island from Edinburgh, Scotland in 1887 when the island was open for homesteading. He left Scotland for Prince Edward's Island, Canada to secure his "Letters of Introduction". From there he made his way to Baltimore I think and then down to Jacksonville where he took a paddle wheel steamer up the St. John's down to either Lake Harney or Lake Poinsett west of Cocoa and then by carriage to the island. I wonder what it must have looked like in those days.
By the way....I was not going to comment on the PJ's, but now I guess your secret is out!

Tad

Hey Tad I bet that picture doesn't get a lot of hits and if it does I'm going to start to wonder about this site. Fascinating story about your Great Grandad. My family spent a lot of time on the water from Bath Maine to Jacksonville. I think of it often when I visit places they traveled and what it must have been like in their day. Look forward to your coming Christmas and I'll try to be dressed!
