Wiper Arm Issues

I'm trying to replace the Marinco wiper arm on the port side of our '07 25 and having issues. It's seized on too much to pry off without hurting the fiberglass. Tried buying a puller, but it will not fit. Any thoughts?
 
I'm sure there are better ways but I couldn't get anything else to work (If you had called I would have loaned you the puller I bought for the same job :shock: :evil: :lol:

What I found that did work, (and I needed to replace the motor so you may not want to follow my lead in this one) was I used a . . . . . .

Seems to me there is a hex screw up under there that was pretty hard to get to until I cut off the motor shaft 8)

PS: somewhere on the site there is a pretty good thread on replacing a wiper on a 25. That is what I used for my direction, but they didn't get into the Sawzall part.

PPS: You are welcome to borrow the Sawzall, if you want.

Harvey is right, there is a couple small hex screws that hold that wiper arm on and they are a PITA to get at. If you can at least get to one and loosen it, you may be able to get the arm off at that point. I believe there is only two set screws, and one was a little easier to get at than the other. In my case, I couldn't really see it, and had to do it by feel. Perhaps with a small mirror and bright light you can at least find where the screws are at if you can't feel for them. Then finding the right allen wrench to fit in the grimed up set screw's hole is just as pleasurable! Good luck. Just plan on taking some time and have patience. :| Colby
 
I just went through this exact scenario on a '07 Cape Cruiser '26.

I could not find the hex screws.. no room to see or access between the top of the wiper and the roof over-hang.

Sawz-all and the fact that marinco does not sell parts to replace the severed shaft.. then led me to need to purchased a new AFI 1000 motor unit.. and, while at it, I bought a new arm set up as well.

School is getting expensive on some of this stuff..

If you cut the shaft, you will need to replace the motor.... I just needed to replace the wiper arm, so continued to work with it until I got it off. The other side was a bit easier once I kind of knew what I was doing. lol. Colby
 
Guess I got lucky, I needed top replace the motor so the shaft was expendable.

Thanks for all the advice, I had tried to find a set screw previously but will look one more time. It's a typical thing the you put two different types of metal together and add salt they end up seizing together. If I don't get it quickly I'll just cut the shaft after I get another motor, I've wasted enough time on it already.

Thanks Harvey for the sawzall offer, I just happen to have one in the shop.
