Wire and Cable labeler?

Anyone have a tip on a good labler for cables and wiring?

I've looked around a little and found a couple that look like possibilities... but figure some of you must have something you're particularly happy with?

Thanks

There are two ways to do it--the special tables which go around the wires. The problem is that not all of the labels I want are there: such as refrigerator, freezer etc.

Where there is a heat shrink tube with the item pre printed about $.75 each

There is also the Brady BMP 21, which makes labels specifically for wires--a bit more expensive, but looks good. I have never used it.

And the use of a labeler like the Brother P touch and you leave a printed tab around the wire. There are special "industerial labelers" I am using a Model PT D 400, and different color high adhesive tapes. They last for years, and you can customize.

Another option.....

I use a Dymo label maker and am quite happy with it. You can print either direction on the tape; plus they have tapes of different widths; different tapes are made of different materials. A bit confusing at first.

I choose simple. Good white electrical tape (3M or similar) and a permanent, fine line black marker.

You can either wrap it around the cable onto itself, leaving a small tag to label - or if you want a very clean look, wrap it around the cable lengthwise. And, it's far easier to label the tape on the roll than after it's put on the wire.

I've used another option with success, but it's just too much work. Print out small text on the printer, cut it in thin strips with an exacto knife, wrap it lengthwise around the cable and put clear shrink tube over the top. Also, unlike the simpler method above - you have to do this before putting any ends on the wire.
