With massive sadness we must sell BRAND NEW 2021 Venture 23

2021 C-Dory Venture 23 for sale soon. We've never had it in the water. She is band new. The manufacturer, NMI did a sea trail when the boat was completed. I have video of that. I'm just putting this out there right now. It may just go back to the dealer for consignment sale but we kinda hate to do that. I'm not entirely sure how we go about all this. But maybe there is someone out there looking for brand spanking new with everything ready to cruise today. Even full tanks of gas. Stabilizer added of course.

I have a medical issue (on going) and a family emergency with my wife's father, her mom just passed recently that is forcing us to sell everything WA related right now. Even our new tiny home on San Juan Island. We will be spending a lot more time in Southern California.

This is one tough pill to swallow. I absolutely love this boat. I put my heart, soul and money into this custom build. It just does not make sense for us to keep her because we don't know out future timeline and responsibility.

I will post a complete ad with pics and price very soon. I'm still working all of that out. She is turn key and very customized. I have to figure out how I do a listing here with all the details. Everything will be included, all electronics, fenders, lines, anchor etc. There will be a very extensive list and pics following soon. She is on San Juan Island and arrived 3 weeks ago by trailer. She had also been stored inside.

We had a beautiful slip lined up after being on a wait list forever at Snug Harbor, it was perfect. Then, the owner of Snug Harbor decided he really liked our slip for one of his 3 boats and that was that. We were out before we ever even got in the water. I cannot recommend Snug Harbor in any way shape or form, extremely unprofessional.

I know C-Dory's all very hard to get right now and if you want a new one I believe Master Marine said they are over a year out. Plus engines, electronics and trailers are very hard to get. We just got our trailer about a month ago and barley got our kicker engine and Garmin radar dome. Last one in the country I was told. Full compliment of Brunewinn mounts and table etc..

Custom Oyster Creek bimini also. Custom paint and deck paint, not standard. Custom interior fabric. All grays, white and black. Bottom paint all also done and we went up about 4 inches above waterline.

It just breaks our heart but we will be back some day down the road.

I need a little time to put all this together. If you or anyone is interested please PM me. I will get details ASAP. Hopefully by Monday or so with pics.
We do have a loan on the boat so all that will have to be worked out.
Again, we HAVE NOT set a price yet. Adding up everything we have into it.

I know this was long and I apologize this may not be the correct place.
But thank you,
sincerely,
Kirk Williams

That is a tough one. You will get a buyer at a fair price. Advertise big in a state like Nevada that does not charge sales tax on private sales of boats and trailers. Will you tiny home be for sale as you mention? List it as a upgrade to the boat!!!!! Lord bless all this and the work that is in front of you.

I can attest that this is a very nice brand new boat and essentially ready to go. Joanie & I visited with Kirk & Susan last week and saw their totally unused fully optioned Venture 23 last week. It was stored inside well protected.

This boat is really ready to go with all the accessories such as anchor & rode, dock lines, fenders, flare kit, etc. etc. Since I recently outfitted my own new boat I can say is is a lot of work putting all the little things all together. I am disappointed that we won't be seeing Kirk & Susan out on the water, but I certainly understand why. Some lucky person is going to be able to pick up a well optioned and equipped boat and be out on the water immediately.

Wow, this is a great opportunity for somebody - and ready to cruise, no waiting. How long would a person have to wait for delivery if they went to a dealer and ordered one today?

As of now I'm in talks with Master Marine mostly due to time constraints and the boat being here on San Juan Island in storage. If I can come to an agreement with MM we might do the deal but we will lose money. Tax is the hard part. Someone else will have to pay tax as well.

We have so many extras on the boat, Burnewiin mounts and custom bimini. Plus it's a very custom build right down the paint and fabric. Complete turn key, anchor and all electronics ready to go. Top of the line Garmin everything. 8600 plotter, VHS/AIS, radar dome, Sirius satellite dome, Morad AIS and VHS antenna, cell booster antenna and hailer speaker. Custom Radar Arch.

Engines are connected and full gauges and helm controls for main and kicker.

Once we come to an agreement I'll let everyone know. Again, there is 1.2 hours on the meter and this was from MNI, the builder doing a sea trail. We truly spared no expense. She is the most beautiful C-Dory I've ever scene. She was my dream boat.

Kirk,
Why not give it a try here on the Forum? For us as an example, we do not pay sales tax on a used boat and trailer here in Nevada. Builders are great but they have to make a buck in and out. Friday Harbor is not much of a drive/ferry ride and lot of folks might like the chance to visit the PNW and then come back mainland side without the long drive out at the start. Many Buyers will have cash in hand, we Baby Boomers are selling nice homes and moving down with cash in hand, try to buy a nice little cabin in Southern Utah - good luck.

C dory boats are wonderful for use in S. Calif. If possible you might consider keeping the boat and using it when time permits in S. Calif.

Emergencies in life are very difficult, and I am sure all of us send our sympathy to your wife for her loss, and to her father for his loss. We don’t have crystal balls how things will work out—even for tomorrow.

Our best.

I'm still trying to work an angle or two.

Selling on C-Brats would be the best way to go but we are on a time crunch. I'm talking to the dealer Monday, ongoing. If we can't reach a suitable agreement I might just try C-Brats. Maybe someone would want to come out and look but we leave in a week. Then back 10 days later and then maybe another week or two.

I might just go ahead and try C-Brats after Monday.

Bob, Thataway... I'm on a few lists in SoCal. I don't thing a C-Dory is the best boat for down there but would certainly work. We had our boat business down there and I've been on tons of boats there, albeit mostly Grand Banks. That's. big ocean. I've been in some nasty stuff in a 28 footer that scared the crap out of me. I was young and stupid and didn't have the data at hand like know for a safe crossing. And I know good weather is always something we strive for and the C-Dory would be great in most of the conditions.

If we end up down there on a more perminant basis we'd like a bigger boat. But man, I do love this one.

Thank everyone for the nice thoughts and prayers. We ALL go through this stuff at different time. It's just been a trickle effect and to many things to juggle. If we owned the property we have our tiny home on on San Juan Island if would all be a different story. We had our CA house for sale last year for a full time move but that's when the family issues started.
We're just on hold for awhile. Not the end of the world and boats will always be avaiable sooner or later.

Kirk, I lived 50 years of my life in SoCal. I boated there from 1946 to 1992. I have gone to Catalina with boats from a 12' inflatable (with kicker) to my 62' pilothouse ketch. I took a 18' runabout there many times from Huntington Harbor where I once lived. One summer I commuted daily for a few weeks daily from the Isthmus.

I first saw a C Dory 22 in Long Beach in 1981 or 2, and vowed when I was no longer able to sail, I would get "one of those". That 22 was going to Catalina almost every weekend year around.

I have taken my own 22 and 25, as well as my son's 25 to Catalina many times, and there are many C Dory owners who cruise the Channel Islands.

I have seen the worse that S. Cal can throw out--and even have some memory of the named tropical storm of 1939 which took 45 lives, and flooded my grandmother's back yard. I have seen the worse of Santana's and North Western gales which occasionally hit that area. These are all predictable enough that one should have no issues with the C Dory 22--just be underway early in the AM--coming home in the afternoon would not be an issue to Long Beach, or Newport areas.

We hope all works out for you.

Kirk, send me your number for the boat where she is all cash this week, I will give you a response. I have been to Catalina behind the Ferry in a small Boston Whaler more than once. We used to race 14' Lasers over every year. I have friends who ski over all the time. I rowed a surf dory over a few times (long row but safe boat), and I would take a good Avon over in a heart beat.
So here is my contact info, worse I can say is no!

Condolences and prayers. PM me prices for both the boat and San Juan island small place as you referred to it.... or something close.. I just returned from TN burring a family member and awesome boating friend and life mentor (all the same awesome person in my life now gone)... so sorry for these tuff times as they are hard on emotions, schedules and life as we knew it. I agree with others this site will find someone in less than your trip or two time to and from CA on your vessel. Someone was for sure to lay down their funds and wait just as others have spoken of. Its hard to build anything now with lack of parts...and several industries are needed to build what you have and each of them have parts and other issues now. Please do send me San Juan info.
Prayers my friend. Every Storm Runs out of Rain.

Kirk, I'm sorry about your tough situation. I would totally agree to (if you are really not going to keep the boat), list it here on the Brat site. It's new, list it for that AND your advantage is that it is available now, not in 6 months or later. AND it is all set up and ready to go. Capitalize on the instant gratification available NOW :D

After much debate and talking with the dealer and a few people interested in buying we have decided to keep our boat for now. We live 2 minutes from a lake so I will break here in this summer. We are 3 hours from Lake Tahoe. We are on a few wait list for SoCal dry storage and slip and my daughter lives in Coeurd'Lene Idaho. So we will try to use the boat and just boater-home back to this area and put in at Skyline marina for the foreseeable future. We will move back to this area eventually but not on the islands again. Not for us. Much easy and conveienet on the mainland and same access to the islands.
Thank you all for all your kind works and suggestions. We would just lose to much on this sale and I just can't bring myself to do it. The boat has been a dream for a long time and it took a lot of research and funds to make her just the way I wanted. It will work out just in a different way then originally planned.

We did sell the tiny home in 2 days for a sizable profit so we are happy about that. Now onto my daughters wedding next weekend, honeymoon on San Juan Island then back home for good for now.

The brats are awesome, such amazing folks. Sorry to drag you all threw my drama.

Have a great summer and enjoy the good weather:-)
Kirk

Kirk, Wish you the best as you go. Some tough decisions, but I understand the Dream issue, and there are times when that dream is the only thing that keeps the sanity factor working. Stick with it, it will be an investment in that area.

Recently as I was lamenting to a friend about how much I was spending on another project he said, "You know, in the end, platinum handles on a casket are still just handles."

Kirk, don't feel bad about sharing your valid concerns in your new C-Dory purchase. Glad your C-Brats family is here to help you in your decisions.

You have spent much time, effort and planning on your 2021 C-Dory 23 Venture and I hope to see you enjoy the use of it.

We wish the best for your family as you celebrate the wedding of your daughter next weekend. Congratulations in everything!

Yeah, the Brat family is amazing.

As I PM'd to Harvey....

Since I decided to keep the boat I feel better already.

Even if I can't get it in the water much now it will be fun to tinker with:-)
Appreciate the kind words.
Steve "Panacea" is challenging me with upgrades already....:-)

We'll be back up here when the time is right.

Y'all have a great 4th of July:-)

Kirk, You came to the right decision... I believe that you will have hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of that boat--maybe not today or tomorrow, but soon, in the great realm of a lifetime.

Kirk,
So glad you were able to keep your beautiful boat! My wife and I had occasion to take a very close look at it when we were up ordering our new boat. It is stunning in every detail. We ordered a new 26 or I would’ve bought that one on the spot! I’m glad it didn’t work out that way and that you were able to keep it. The new boat smell was intoxicating! Enjoy!
