For those who would like to come cruise A Volcano let's set a date for Saturday the 26th of August to meet at the Bay Bridge Marina. This is a nice quiet marina with great docks and you pretty much have the whole lake to yourself. Can we get the admins to setup a signup list for us so we can see who's interested.
 
Wow! nine years gone since the fantastic 2008 Gathering there. We hope to have the Hunkydory at Bridge Bay for a month plus starting about mid July, so could still be there in late August. We do know even if we can make the planned rv trip to Newfoundland, the start won't be until after the eclipse on the 21 of August.

I remember the 2008 trip was fun. We also spent a few nights on Lake Jackson which might be a great place to see the eclipse. It is not too far from the center of the line of totality which goes through the Jackson Hole air port. You might be able to see the shadow coming across the Tetons as it comes toward the lake.

No idea of how crowed it would be or dealing with boat inspections for invasive species. Any local information for where to get boat inspections for those that might come from out of state?

The website seems to indicate you need to go to Jackson Hole for inspection before going to Lake Yellowstone. In 2008 there was an inspection station by the launch at Jackson Lake and I think I remember one not too far from Lake Yellowstone. We entered from West Yellowstone but I don't see any inspection stations on the way from that direction.

They inspect everyone at the marina before you can launch.
 
Unless something unforeseen happens, we intend to make the trip to Yellowstone in August.

Ooops. Grandparent duty means we won't be making the Yellowstone trip this year.

Sorry to hear that but grand parent duty can't be all bad either.
