SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

What did I do on my C-Dory today? Well, I bit the bullet and did a rub rail repair. Well, I cheated. A fiberglass repair guy in town did it for me. Drilled out rivets, replaced with stainless screws, washers, and nylnuts. Now to decide if I should cover for aesthetic reasons the washers and nuts on the inside. What to use? Spray rubber like Flex Seal, paint, or something else? What have you guys used? or just leave it alone?

I just used 3M 4200 fast dry. It nearly matches the interior color and provides a seal the bolt, washer and locknut does not provide.

Hey all! today I verified my water separator/fuel filter would accommodate a 2nd fuel line for a kicker...and it does. I also ordered a 16x24 US flag and pole to use in the rocket launchers. The day before I ordered a sheet of King Starboard so I could make my own DIY bait/filet table. I'm planning to install a DIY stainless railing forward of the outboard motor, mounted to the forward facing splashwell bulkhead for mounting the filet table on. I'll use Burnewiin rail mounts and table bases for it.

Just installed volt meters on each of my batteries. Drilled 1 1/8" holes in battery box lid and installed volt meters that show voltage, %left, and shut off using built in switch. Bought them on Amazon. Linkstyle Battery Voltage Gauge, DC Voltage Meters. Come in pairs with all wiring for $16.99.

1) Retreived a spare anchor that was used to hold the stern from swaying in the Nor'Easter a few weeks ago. It held so well that it was buried deep and could not just be pulled up. Needed to do an end around with the Tomcat - pulling at idle the opposite direction did the trick.
2) Visited Deltaville, VA and left the town a souvenir - did the first (for me) holding tank/head pumpout.
3) Got a great quote for some dock work needed to accomodate the new Tomcat "ViewFinder". Needs more room than my Twin Vee 22'.

I removed & replaced the two fuel fill hoses & vent hoses and replaced the SS vents with new Atwood ones. The new ones prevent water intrusion, meet the new AYBC standard and don’t require an anti-siphon loop in the vent hose. The factory ones from 2006 had no loop and were directly fitted to the fuel tank via a down facing 90* vent.

It was challenging, to say the least, because reaching the lower fittings is tight and everything had to be placed & tightened by feel, as you can’t see them without removing the step.

I spent the last two days removing the wet toilet, 6gal black water tank, black water plumbing line and macerator pump in preparation for a composting toilet. I'm so very excited to be rid of that! the holding tank really only lasted us 3 days maybe, and you're always in the search for a pumpout facility, and the macerator pump has been leaking under the galley and the whole thing had a nasty stink to it. We're putting in the Trelino EVO L which is, less a composting toilet and more an expensive (but well designed) german toilet which separates liquid from solid and the solid just goes into a lined container that you can sprinkle in some peet or wood chips after each use, but essentially it's a bag and dispose strategy. There's no tech involved, no complicated composting apparatuses, just bag it and throw it away upon your next shore visit.

For not a lot more money you might consider the Modiwell toilet. It auto bags things.

One thing I've read about the Trelino toilets is that their biodegradable bags can start degrading sooner than you expect, especially in warm weather. FWIW, I have a small Trelino toilet in my camper conversion van, but have not used it yet.
thanks, good tip about the bags, something to keep a close eye on!

I waxed the boat this morning. I had to remove my shoes and socks, then roll up my pants just to get to the slip due to the large tidal swing this week. There was about eight inches of water covering our sidewalk. I even saw a cormorant swimming underwater on the sidewalk.

Just hung an early Christmas gift on the wall. "FriendShip" 22' as we traveled through some rough seas in Gulf Islands this past summer.

First dive in EIGHTY DAYS! I finally made dive #2900 after waiting for eleven weeks post surgery. I was concerned about gas expanding in my ostomy bag, but I didn't eat or drink anything for eighteen hours before the dive, so no issues.
I enjoyed the blue water and thirty feet plus visibility at the Redondo Barge, but there wasn't much to see. The Giant Sea Bass and Broomtail grouper were gone, as were most of the nudibranchs and snails from under the rust and bricks. I'm not happy with my photos, but at least I know I can still dive. The water was still warm at 88 feet. I had 70.2°F with 75.9°F at the surface. It should be back to normal by the time Merry and I can dive together again.

Not happy? Those photos are wonderful. I especially liked this one. You are very skilled. How long did that guy pose for you?

Well, I am happy with your health report! It is good to see you back to being able to do what you do so well. All the best for continued recovery!

Phil as always your photots are absolutely stunning--some of the best underwater photography I have seen. You are a master!

What do you attribute the loss of "Giant Sea Bass and Broomtail grouper were gone, as were most of the nudibranchs and snails from under the rust and bricks.” The water temperature? More recent swells even down that deep? Other environmental conditions? Thanks!

The Giant Sea Bass and Broomtail groupers are usually found at Hermosa Artificial Reef, about a mile north of the barge. I think they just missed their friends. :)

The water temperature likely played a part in the disappearance of the small animals. It is usually about ten degrees colder by now.

Had to upgrade the wheel today.
