    Iceland

Bill, I couldn't help but think after the volcano eruption and the halting of flights over most of Europe and the Atlantic because of microscopic debris suspended in the air that an event like this is good at reflecting the suns rays and thus reducing the amount of heat that is absorbed by the...

    Some DSC-Equipped VHFs Failing

Larry H stated, I know I'm splitting hairs here and I'm sure most if not all people don't care, but.... I work for an embedded operating system software company and this doesn't sound like a operating system defect, but an application (sits on top of the OS) feature gone awry. I'm done.

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

Well, here's a video by the builder of my beer can boat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyMUzsCYlOU I guess they felt that showing it perform in water that wasn't perfectly flat would just be bragging!! You'll notice that even though the video doesn't show how the boat performs in big water...

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

I'm impressed that some of you are admiring "beer can" boats. I think one of the ultimate "beer can" boats, more like a keg, is the Rozema. http://www.rozemaboatworks.com/yachts.html#40troller

    Unintended Acceleration Issue

In all fairness to airplane builders, the software in the cockpit must pass DO-178B certification http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DO-178 which is quite extensive. Automobile software isn't up to those standards. Maybe this issue will raise the bar for autobuilders.

    Unintended Acceleration Issue

I have twin Mercury Verados on my boat. They are completely fly by wire. There is no cable connecting the throttle control to the transmission, everything is done electrically. There is no "clunk" into gear that I had with the old cable system. I'm laying odds that these newer cars operate...

    Unintended Acceleration Issue

In one of the other threads, I believe someone explained the issue... These cars don't just have fly by wire accelerators, they are completely fly by wire, including the transmissions and ignitions. I thought the same thing as Mark, just put it into neutral and slam on the brakes, which is...
